About this project
Moroz Publishing and Rightgames teams hearty thank all who backed the Mechanical Dice Towers! Thank you very much!!!
The late pledging via PayPal will be open until the end of summer 2016. You can contact us by sending a message to Moroz Publishing — just click on the company name located on top of the main campaign page: it’s next to the snowflake, which is a company logo. You may also send us an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org
In a few months after the campaign all these awesome towers will become available at the Rightgames online store. Please note that shipping will cost more as we cover 1/2 shipping expenses during the campaign, and there will be no Kickstarter exclusive First Player tokens and additional free dice bags (of course!).
LET THE DICE ROLL!
Load dice, then push down on the stylish lever. BANG! Random results guaranteed, along with a privilege to use dice towers that you won’t find anywhere else!
We are proud to present the Orc Totem and the White Castle — dice towers with a rotating platform. Unlike ordinary towers, you don’t throw your dice inside. Rather, you place them on a special platform, and let them loose with a special lever.
In addition, we’ve created MDT-7 — a compact collapsible dice tower. This one easily fits in your bag and takes just a few seconds to fold out!
Dice towers come with awesome First Player tokens, created specifically for this Kickstarter campaign! Each of the three tokens accompanies its own dice tower.
The approximate value of each of these First Player tokens is $6. They won’t be available for separate sale.
Here is the deal: only now on Kickstarter, you get your First Player token for free with the appropriate tower!
And even more! We give away a red velvet dice bag with each dice tower your purchase. Just for free!
The Orc Totem is the original dice tower. Everything started with it. We exhibited it at Essen last year, and were surprised with unbelievable feedback we got. A dozen test copies that we brought to Essen vanished before the end of the first day. It was incredible!
Many people stopped near our booth just to see how the tower works. It’s really fun to watch! You place dice on top, press on the mushroom, and as the totem orc rolls his eyes fearfully, the dice tumble down. Not for the faint hearted!
The turning platform of the Orc Totem works for small and medium dice. You can also throw dice through the mouth of the daemon on the back. This way you can roll even the biggest and the baddest of your dice! A wooden fence keeps the dice from rolling too far.
The White Castle is absolutely amazing. First of all, it's huge! When you set it on the table, no matter what board game you play — everything becomes just... epic!
The Castle comes to life when you press the tiny turret on the top. Click! The dice start their thundering journey through the depths of the tower. The Castle’s portcullis is lifted, and a medieval king, a queen, a knight and a minstrel appear in the gothic windows.
All our dice towers are covered with gorgeous laser engravings. However the White Castle stands in a league of its own. It is decorated with masonry, winches, hoists, and more. Furthermore, it’s laminated with white plastic. Enough words — just take a look at this beauty!
Now for our little baby. MDT-7 is a collapsible tower that can be folded and unfolded in a few simple moves! Two or three seconds — and your dice have a place to roll!
MDT-7 doesn’t have a special dice throwing mechanism, as per the Orc Totem and the White Castle. Rather, MDT-7 is designed for portability. It is perfect for board-game parties when you need a dice tower, but don’t want to be lugging around too much stuff.
One more thing. Does the folded MDT-7 remind you of anything? A Warhammer 40k tank, you say? Well, if that’s how it is… Enemy sighted — ready the dice! Give ‘em a round of d6! Load the armor-piercing d20!
Our towers are all built of HDF — high-density fiberboard. It’s famed for its strength and durability. If you’re not planning to smash your tower with a hammer, sit on it, incinerate it (which isn’t even all that easy to do!) or any other such nasty things — the tower will serve you for many years!
Tactilely, HDF is quite pleasant. The surface is smooth and flat. All towers are made with a laser, so the edges are free from burrs.
All parts fit each other perfectly. Assembling these towers is a piece of cake. As for gluing, it is not necessary at all. However if you wish to glue all the parts together, most common glues like PVA will be okay.
Rich laser engravings are applied to each of the towers. The towers look amazing as they are! Still, you are free to paint them if you want. Though preferably the Orc Totem and MDT-7, the White Castle has been painstakingly laminated.
More about painting in our update.
The Orc Totem, White Castle and MDT-7 are shipped in HDF punchboards. This is how it looks:
You will need to carefully press out the tower pieces. This procedure is simple and takes only a few minutes.
Each tower supplied with detailed instructions:
Note. If you order only the Orc Totem, it will arrive to you without the punchboard. We press out all the pieces for you in advance. This is done in order to reduce the shipping cost. Not all that important, but we prefer to make the things clear!
In addition to dice towers, we offer high-quality bags for your dice!
There are 2 different sets available: the Black and White set for $18 and the Multicolor set for $24. Each set includes 3 bags with either black-and-white or color pictures. Every picture in each set is dedicated to its own tower!
The bags are made from 100% linen. It’s probably the best possible material to store dice and tokens. Such bags are smooth to the touch, well-ventilated, and durable. And they are washable, of course. Pictures won’t wash out!
Crafting. The picture is printed on the fabric with a special printer. Then it’s finished with a thermal press. Only then the bag is sewed on the mechanical frame. This is not a high-volume manufacturing. This is true piece work!
How to: To purchase bags, press ‘MANAGE’ on the top of the page, then select ‘Change your pledge’, add the cost of chosen bag sets in the ‘PLEDGE AMOUNT’ field and confirm the new amount.
You can read about these nice linen dice bags in more detail in this update!
We put all our love and expertise into our dice towers. Hence, we have no stretch goals like "when we collect X money — we add something to the tower". All that we wanted to do has already been done.
However, if funding from this campaign exceeds our expectations (which are, by the way, a secret =), we promise to give you something exclusive and very special. We still have a couple of cool ideas, and perhaps you’ll be able to help bring them to life!
The first such idea has come to life already. We are happy to add a free red velvet dice bag to every tower you purchase!
Now every tower comes with a dice bag and an amazing First Player token. These are not stretch goals, but just free presents from us! Our hearty gift to everyone backing us on Kickstarter!
The main things you want to know about shipping:
Knowledge comes with a click! You will see the shipping cost by simply choosing a reward to the right of this page.
One for all! The shipping costs are the same, no matter the destination. The only difference is in the type and number of towers you order.
More is less! The more towers you order, the cheaper is shipping per tower!
Tax Free! We do not claim «EU Friendly» and so on, but we are very close to it. In our case, there are no customs taxes for 99% of the known world. More details in FAQ section, at the bottom of this page.
At the ready! We will start making and sending towers about a month after the end of the campaign. We hope to ship the last tower in September. Many of you will receive your towers earlier than the estimated delivery date!
Your choice. You are free to choose any combination of towers and calculate shipping by yourself. Read about it next!
We’ve prepared multiple rewards for all the main options: any one of three towers, any two towers, three towers.
However, you are free to choose whatever you like — for example, two Orc Totems and one MDT-7. This way you’ll have to calculate the total sum yourself, following instructions below. (Or you can cry for help, and we’ll be happy to do it for you!).
For custom selection of towers please choose the very first reward level, called “Free choice”.
Next, calculate shipping costs:
1. The Orc Totem and MDT-7 are counted as 1 unit. White Castle is counted as 2 units.
2. Shipping of the first unit costs $8. Add $4 for each additional unit.
Example #1. You decided to buy a White Castle (2 units) and two MDT-7 (1 unit each). Total: 4 units. Shipping of the first unit is $8. Shipping of the remaining three units is $4 per each. Final shipping: $8 + $4x3 = $20.
Example #2. You decided to buy three Orc Totems (1 unit each) and two MDT-7 (1 unit each). Total: 5 units. Shipping of the first unit is $8. Shipping of the remaining four units is $4 per each. Final shipping: $8 + $4x4 = $24.
Add the costs of your chosen towers (MDT-7 = $14, Orc Totem = $20, White Castle = $35). Add the shipping cost as described above. Pledge your resulting amount, choosing the “Free choice” reward. Done!
You can also add up to 10 linen dice bag sets. Adding them does not affect the shipping cost.
Important! If you want to get 6 or more towers units, please contact us directly. Maybe we can give you an extra shipping discount!
We are based in Russia. Although our trips to Essen Fair give us an opportunity to exhibit dice towers to visitors, it’s not enough.
We know how great these towers are! We are delighted with what we’ve created, and our wish is to share them with the world. Kickstarter is the best chance we have to achieve this!
Fedor and Sergey are both involved in Rightgames company. It is one of the oldest in Russia in the board games industry. Fedor takes care of the company’s general service activities, and Sergey is the executive producer and head of production.
The dice towers idea was originally born as a fan project. Long evenings spent with the laser cutter, drawings, guesstimates, experiments... In the end, it turned out into something really awesome!
We’d like to add that towers project is carried out together with Moroz Publishing. Denis Davydov from Moroz is the one who answers all your comments and messages here!
Risks and challenges
Sergey Machin, the main responsible for the production in Rightgames, fears that lasers will attack him at night and burn orcish totemic symbols onto his back. That he won't be able to read, because its very inconvenient to read from your own back. That is what scares him.
Fedor Myachin, the creator of Orc Totem tower, worries that people will buy so many towers that he and his team will be cutting wood and packing shipments day and night. But Ivan Tulovskiy, the President of Rightgames, would be rather pleased with that outcome. He loves it when people are working!
Seriously though, we have a lot of experience with laser cutter production. Our towers are crash tested. They were assembled, checked, disassembled, jumped on, hammered, punched, slapped, again assembled and still everything works as it should! We take pride in quality.
Rightgames has been producing and shipping board games and accessories for over 10 years. Of course, unforeseen circumstances can always arise. Nevertheless, we strive to deal with everything on our side and make sure you won’t even notice if something unexpected happened.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
