MTJ Donation Breakdown & Future Charity Plans

Dear Jewel Runners & Meow The Jewels Kickstarter pledgers, What a couple of fucking weeks! You guys made Meow The Jewels happen and it's been a huge success. Not only are cats everywhere celebrating, but we’ve also managed to do some real good for humans as well. As the packages of rewards are shipped and the numbers are coming in, we are now seeing a clearer picture of the results of this demented little experiment in philanthropy/cat noise and we want to share an update with you about it so that you know the good you are doing and how it all breaks down.

Beyond that we want to announce that we've picked a great charity to donate all future profits to. As you probably know, we have split up the original pledge of $40k and given it equally to the families of Eric Garner and Michael Brown, Jr. We’ve been trying to figure out where the rest of the profits left over and going forward (from vinyl sales, merch, etc) will go and we have finally locked it in:

The remaining profit left over from the Kickstarter pledges along with all future profits from the project (including all vinyl and merchandise sales), will be donated to the National Lawyers Guild's Mass Defense Committee. This is a network of lawyers, legal workers, and law students providing legal support for political activists, protesters and movements for social change - https://www.nlg.org/Mass-Defense-Committee. We are honored and excited to contribute to their work going forward. We feel like it falls in line with the spirit of who Run The Jewels and the Jewel Runners are, as well as the whole idea behind Meow The Jewels. Even if you haven’t pledged or purchased Meow The Jewels we highly recommend you check out this organizations work and, if you can, contribute.

We are still waiting for the absolute final numbers (international shipping of rewards is still ongoing), but once we have that completed, the next donation of profit goes out. In the meantime, here is a breakdown (minus that incoming info) of everything Meow The Jewels related. We hope you are as proud as we are that this all happened. Thank you, thank you and thank you for grasping onto the fur of stupidity and riding it out into the great catnip fields of compassion.

Sincerely,

jaime and mike

P.S.- If you have any questions about your rewards, please message on Kickstarter, we check it daily.

P.P.S.- In case you haven't already, download Meow The Jewels for FREE at www.runthejewels.net

P.P.P.S - You can pre-order the (faux) furry vinyl at www.runthejewels.net as well. (Which is then, in turn, donated as well.)

I really appreciate the transparency here, and think your choice of the NLG is terrific. This whole thing was really well executed, and must have taken a ton of work - thanks for doing it right.
