Larry Harris, renowned Axis & Allies designer, and Nightingale Games present WAR ROOM, a deluxe global World War II board game for 2-6 players. Over four years in the making, this is Larry's magnum opus.
In the spring of '42 you have been entrusted with the Mantle of Command for your nation. Collaborate with allies to coordinate maneuvers before resolving your secret, simultaneous orders for movement and production. Assign battle stances for each unit type wisely during conflicts on the land, at sea and air. Maintain a tight grip on your territories and guard your convoys to control the varied resources required to expand your army. Attack your enemies where they least expect and crush their national morale. Strive onward to capture the enemy capitals and secure victory!
Risks and challenges
This is Nightingale Games' first Kickstarter, but that doesn't mean we are novices. Larry has been creating famous board games for about 4 decades. Thomas Gale has over 20 years of experience in professional game development. However, we are taking the following steps to diminish the chance of problems arising:
+ Research. We are not shy about scouring the internet (thanks BGG, Jamey Stegmaier and James Mathe!) or seeking out advice when there is doubt.
+ Choose a reputable manufacturer. We only have garnered quotes from top tier manufacturers. We are NOT going to try to shave costs by taking a trip to China ourselves.
+ Choose a reliable fulfillment and warehousing service. We really do NOT want our packages damaged in transit or getting crushed in warehouses.
+ Choose a sturdy box. Given the box is really large, we don't want it caving or sagging over time. Box strength has top priority.
+ Organize blind play-testing and thorough rules editing. While we have had significant testing done already over these past 4 years, we want to avoid any last minute hiccups in the rules.
+ Rely on business expertise. Wrangling finances and legal logistics can be the stuff of nightmares. With solid financial services and trustworthy, experienced advisors like Joe Minton we plan to approach such matters promptly and on solid footing.
+ Keep in touch with the community. We want to make sure we know about your concerns and that you are kept up to date with the latest production progress in a straight-forward manner.
+ Stay determined. Any unfortunate meteor strikes or errant kraken (or other such bizarre phenomenon out of our control) will only delay our venture. We will deliver the goods!
Given all that, here are some caveats:
+ Component Tweaks! There might be minor tweaks to the design or material of components than what is shown above. These tweaks should only optimize or improve the game.
+ Estimated Shipping Dates! We estimate a December 2018 shipping time-frame. This may adjust. It may even slide forward, which is almost unheard of for Kickstarter game campaigns.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
