About this project
DEMAND NEW SCI-FI. START HERE.
JOHNNY SHOTGUN AND THE WOMAN IN BLACK is a story that takes place in a dreamlike dystopian future. Bringing this world to life has been a long journey for me, but I am almost done. To finish, I need the support of sci-fi junkies and fantasy goons. People with the imagination to ask more of the genre than remakes and referential content. I need the support of fans who value original science fiction, who remember their dreams when they wake up, and who aren't afraid to hallucinate now and then. Hopefully people like you.
I’m reluctant to describe the movie in too much detail. What I can say is it’s about our Earth at a crossroads. In a not-too-distant future when a terrifying alien intelligence -- with a sick, sick agenda -- have launched a sadistic terrestrial crusade, and the survival (and dignity) of humans hangs in the balance. Our hero Johnny finds himself in this grip of aliens, zombies, and mind control, and he doesn’t know up from down. But one thing becomes clear: IT’S TIME TO FIGHT.
Why I Need Your Help
The film is in the can, and we're at a solid rough cut. But we have several post-production steps to complete before the film's ready to show the world. Many of which involve hiring professionals to sit in dark, expensive studio spaces and fiddle with expensive equipment for long, long hours.
Most immediately, I need funds to hire my Matte Painter and my Composer. I have a few composers in mind, and I already know the matte painter I need: his name is Sean Thurlow, and he’s incredibly talented. After this campaign I will turn him loose creating the vast, breathtaking, exterior backdrops for my scenes, which will make JOHNNY SHOTGUN the believably nightmarish world it needs to be.
I know you’re out there, and I cannot wait to connect with all of you and begin forming a community around this film. I want to honor all my talented friends and colleagues who believed in this vision, and worked for far less than they’re worth to see it realized. With your help, this Kickstarter will be the rocket-boosters that take us home.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
