QC inspection pushed back to this week
Hi guys, last Thursday's QC inspection has been pushed back to this Thursday, and I'm already aware that it won't be the full order quantity. This means that we'll take partial delivery on as many as they'll have, and we'll start shipping them out in the order as determined by backing dates (i.e. first backed, first shipped). We'll then push for the balance as quickly as possible but it may take a week or more to get the rest (and do another QC inspection on those).
The issue is that they finished a number of new connectors last week but only after the final stages did we see that the colours didn't match the rest of the band too well. They had to start all over again this past weekend and are working on them in the next few days leading up to Thursday's inspection of a partial shipment.
The reason why we don't know if it's successful until the last minute each time is because the aluminum goes through several stages of processing: stamping, CNC machining, polishing of the rough edges, sandblasting for the final finish, introducing the colour dye, then the final chemical bath to seal it. Only after we colour and seal it do we see if we have a colour match...and it's not a scientific formula. It's more trial and error each time. That's why aluminum is so difficult to work with from a consistency point of view.
We're going to get these out to you soon...and as quickly as possible for the later orders.
Thanks again for your continued patience...I'm terribly sorry you all have to wait this long.
