My name is Brian Cattelle and I want to invite you to be a part of my photography project BARE USA. BARE USA is a nationwide fine art photography project that delves into the study of natural beauty in contrast with man-made decay. This contrast is explored by photographing nude models in abandoned locations nationwide.
My goal is to photograph one model in one location in each of the 50 United States. Over the past summer I had successful shoots in 30 states giving me a huge catalogue of images I’m sure you’re going to love. After photographing in the remaining 20 states I will publish a digital and hard cover book of the entire collection. I will also continue to display my work in multiple fine art galleries and shows.
So what is the value in being a part of a project like BARE USA? First and foremost, to make art, to create something beautiful where there once was nothing, to produce new compelling images that spark the spirit of adventure, to ignite the imagination and to evoke emotion.
I love the excitement that comes from exploring and photographing these forbidden landscapes of decay and I want to share that with you. These crumbling structures create compositions that are difficult to find anywhere else. There’s also something quite compelling and inherently beautiful about the natural shapes of the female form. I'm not talking about the false ideals we have been force fed through popular media. I’m talking about real women, as they are, as there meant to be, naturally beautiful in every way. Right from the start I have loved everything about this project and I wouldn't forgive myself if I didn't see it through to the end.

On a personal level I aim to challenge my discomfort with nudity, the presence of it, photographing it and discussing it. Nudity is natural and I want to show that it’s safe to embrace it. I also hope to prove that I can build trust with people fostering an environment where we are willing to work in the most challenging situations, going above and beyond, to get amazing shots. I want to tell interesting stories about people and places across the United States in a unique way and I believe I‘m doing just that.
I’m also curious to see if it’s even possible to create a tasteful book consisting entirely of nude women in abandoned places, taking a seemingly taboo even cliché subject and approaching it with a totally new perspective. So far I’m proving that is possible because my work attracts a surprisingly broad and diverse audience which is something I’m very proud of.
There’s many challenges along this journey; one being that I’m not the first to photograph nude women in abandoned places, but I am the first to do so on such a large scale. What’s more is that the focus isn't just on the models but often on the locations themselves. This creates compositions that blend the models into the surrounding environments. As a result the audience really has to explore the photos before they realize there’s a nude figure there. Once discovered they are rewarded with an oasis of beauty amongst the chaos and destruction.
There are also dangers along the way beyond the crumbling structures, asbestos, and broken glass. I might come across some wild animals, dangerous people or even have a run in with the law from time to time. These are challenges I have to be realistic and careful about.
What qualifies me to do this project is my passion and drive. I have never been more determined in my life. I have won a number of contest like The International Fine Art Photography Contest, I've displayed my art in art in nationally recognized art shows like Nude Nite Orlando; I've even been featured in major news outlets like the Miami New Times and on the NBC Detroit nighttime news. I have accomplished a lot and have a proven track record of success. These accolades and more have built my resume and this project to a level at which I am confident I can finish what I started.
HOW WILL I COMPLETE THIS PROJECT
How will I be able to complete this project? I’m already over halfway there. All I really need now is enough funding and support to photograph in the remaining 20 states. I have already researched and mapped out all the locations I want to photograph, I have hundreds of models interested in working on this project and I have lots of places to stay along the way. I have the plan, the passion and the vision. The money I need will help pay for at least 20 models, food, gas, and a few airline tickets. I also need a little wiggle room for the unexpected, like car repairs. Any money raised beyond my goal will go towards the cost of publishing the final book. I've poured every last penny I have into this, I just need a little bit more to get me to the end.
YOUR PLEDGE AND REWARDS!
I hope that I have really sparked your interest in being a part of BARE USA. There are a number of ways you can contribute and support this project. I have many beautiful fine art gallery prints available from the 30 states I have already visited. All of these prints are limited editions signed and numbered. There are many options to choose from ranging from large prints to smaller post card prints, even downloadable digital files. If you're patient you can reserve a copy of the final book in hard cover or digital format. You can get special signed copies of the book or be included in the credits if you like. You can even sponsor a state and have your name live on forever as a major part of the project. And there are a number of other options available that are sure to match the contribution level you are comfortable with.
SHARE IT WITH OTHERS
If your budget is tight but you still want to help there is much you can do. You can help spread the word about my project by sharing it with your friends, by encouraging others to contribute, and by posting it everywhere. You can offer me a place to stay on my journey and you can even show me some of your local abandoned locations. I am truly grateful for whatever you can do.
In the end I really just want to bring something beautiful to this world and I strongly believe that by teaming up with you we can do just that.

The final book will include a minimum of 150 pages of fine art images from the BARE USA collection. I have a huge collection of images I have not released, and even more yet to be captured. There will be much more to see.
Each page of this book will tell a unique story of the forgotten past or an exciting story about recent adventures. Each page is a new and exciting landscapes to explore.
No expenses will be spared as this book will be of the highest quality possible. Your book will also come signed and numbered and include a certificate of authenticity.
MORE ABOUT SPONSORING A STATE
When you sponsor a state for a the BARE USA project you are getting in on the ground floor of an ambitious project that will reach millions. You can get a lot of recognition through a wide range of channels including but not limited to BARE USA’s social media outlets, videos, website, and of course the final digital and print publication. By being featured as a sponsor in the final publication the recognition of your participation will last as long as the pages in the book do!
Our media outlets include the website, Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and the final publication of the book itself. Anyone and everyone who follows or comes across the BARE USA project will know you played a major roll in its success!
On top of all of this you will also receive the extra rewards that total over $600 in value! Please note: Sponsorship for specific states are available on a first pledge first serve basis. This means those who pledge first get first dibs on available states. This is likely to happen because only one person can sponsor each state so have a few backup choices in mind. The sooner you pledge the better position you will be in to secure the state you want.
MY FAVORITE / MOST POPULAR IMAGES
One of the biggest challenges with this project is choosing my favorite images. I love them all, I really do. This is why you have so many prints available to choose from and it's hard for me not to offer more. Some might say I offer too much already. That being said I do have some favorites. Below are the images in the collection I absolutely fallen in love with and they seem to be striking a cord with my audience as well. I'm sure these will be the first to sell out.
Risks and challenges
RISK TO THOSE PLEDGING FOR A FINE ART PRINT
There is no risk at all to those who pledge for a fine art print. All of the art prints you can choose from are ready to go, so once the campaign is over you are guaranteed to get your fine art print as soon as possible. Remember prints are available on a first pledge first serve basis. It is possible that the photo you want could sell out but the chance of this happening is unlikely. That being said it's a good idea to have a second choice in mind.
RISK TO THOSE PLEDGING FOR A FINAL COPY OF THE BOOK
Those who pledge for a copy of the final book also have minimal risk. I have priced the books at a rate so that I can afford to have a short run of very special edition books just for you. This is included in my budget. I will probably run another kickstarter to raise money for mass production of the BARE USA book once I have photographed all of the states but this has no bearing on current backers. The biggest risk here is completing the project as a whole, which I explain in greater detail below.
RISK TO THOSE WHO PLEDGE TO SPONSOR A STATE
The biggest risk here is that you are not able to sponsor the state you had hoped for. The sponsor a state options is on a first pledge basis meaning those who pledge first get first choice on the available states. Once a state is sponsored is no longer available to anyone else. All websites and social media outlets are in place and running smoothly, gaining more traffic every day so your shout outs are sure to be heard loud and clear. The other risks are the same as those stated above and below.
RISK OF PROJECT COMPLETION
The risk of not completing the project is minimal. There are many challenges but little risk. There may be locations I am unable to shoot at but there are an abundance of abandoned locations in every state so an alternative is always available. There is no shortage of models interested in participating in this project so if one should cancel there are always others available.
If my truck breaks down I will fix it.
Should I be injured during my exploration of these somewhat dangerous structures, I will heal and I will continue on. I do have health insurance.
MY PERSONAL GUARANTEE
The biggest assurance for the completion of this project is my drive. Nothing will stop me from seeing this project all the way through.
