Tomo Coffee Co. started as a personal journey to find a great cup of cold brew coffee.
After searching the local market and finding very few options, our team spent the better part of a year exploring different methods of making cold brew. Much trial and error has helped us to produce a cold brew coffee concentrate that our family, friends, and cat Tomo love. We know that you will love it too.
Our mission is to bring our coffee to the Motor City this summer.
Cold brew coffee is produced differently than traditional drip coffee.
The process requires coffee beans to steep in cold water for a prolonged period of time. After steeping, the beans are filtered out of the coffee, producing a thick concentrate.
Once filtered, cold brew can be consumed either hot or cold, depending on preference. The end product is a less acidic, smoother coffee that allows you to taste more of the natural flavors of the bean.
Our goal in launching this campaign is to raise the funds to help us create a custom bike cart that will allow us to sell "ready to drink" cold brew at farmers markets and other local events throughout Michigan. We want to introduce Tomo Coffee to as many people as possible this summer!
We reached out to local Detroit companies such as Detroit Bikes, Motorless City Bikes and Woodward Throwbacks to help us with creating the bike cart. The process will start with an existing Detroit Bikes bike frame and a custom wooden cart made by Woodward Throwbacks. Motorless City Bikes will refabricate the bike, making it functional to ride and carry our front cart. The end result will be a unique bike cart that will transport a cold brew keg and tap system.
We are three young Detroit entrepreneurs with diverse experiences. Although we are very different, we have been brought together by our love for coffee. We are proud of our coffee and the underdog city that it pays tribute to.

Risks and challenges
Although we have done our research, the challenges we face are obtaining a commercial kitchen and the correct licensing to be able to sell our product.
We have never made our product on a large scale, however, our experience with making our product makes us believe the transition will be seamless.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
