Remaining Pledge Fulfillment Update

I would first like to apologize for the slow speed and lack of updates regarding finalizing mPrinter Kickstarter pledge fulfillment. After a series of legal, manufacturing, and other delays, we are immediately resuming shipments to fulfill all remaining pledges.

We will be utilizing Amazon Fulfillment Services to handle shipments. International users may experience an additional delay as we ship units to overseas Amazon fulfillment centers and they clear customs. Users who additionally ordered the battery option may receive the upgrade as a separate, user-installable kit via a second shipment.

In the near future, backers with unfulfilled pledges will receive a request to verify your shipping address. The first wave of shipments will go out as early as next week. We are awaiting some additional parts to arrive (AC adapters, batteries, and print heads) prior to shipping subsequent waves, which may be affected by the Chinese New Year on February 19th. As additional shipment waves occur, we will provide more updates.

      I like what Dave said.
only that I have 3 project that did not deliver.
Did anyone hear of what kickstarter will do ?

      Michael

This guy is unprofessional & doesn't understand the meaning of the word stakeholders. However, this is where KickStarter should get involved; this is directly effecting my desire to use the site anymore. I have now had 2 of these con-merchants, that give the right words (when they communicate) but have nothing to back their funding project. I refuse to use KickStarter anymore until they personally start to vet the quality of the projects or jump in to assist THEIR clients who have backed what seems to be valid, honest ideas. KickStarter, what say you?

    2. John Huetz on

never got a thing. don't even remember what this was anymore. what a bad bet.

    3. Patrick Gibson on

Why would one even bother writing such an update and then once again, not deliver? What a joke.

june... no update... no printer ...

    7. Melvin Chia on

One announcement and total silence again.. It's like he rose from the grave just to poke fun at the kickstarter supporters yet again..

    8. Frank Walsh on

I am very confused by this. I see at least 30 boxes...and what appear to be hundreds of additional printers in production?? he said he was shipping these out and now it's May? I don't know what else that many printers would be good for...if people don't have these things out there using them....there is no way he'd be able to generate interest or sell more...

so he's basically screwing himself by delaying.

We all need to accept the fact this guy is a liar and a fraud.

Do I wish that this will materialize into something, of course. But I find it highly improbable. Guessing he just wanted to get some heat off his back.

Also, I have no faith in customer service or support for this product even if it does come to fruition.

    10. Matthew Wentworth on

I also never received anything including communication. Please send me the information.

I never received a shipping address confirmation email. Anyone else have any luck?

I know this is likely a lost cause, but I do hope this project comes through. I've been excited about the mPrinter since I backed it. I've followed the story and I understand the frustration. I'm a backer and I hope it ends with success.

    13. Yukihisa on

I have not received yet. WHY?

    14. Brian Poage on

I about fell over when i got an update recently, I had forgotten all about it. The funding ended 2-1/2 years ago. You would think that they would make a more concerted effort to keep backers informed more regularly. Its almost a month since the last update, i REALLY hope i see one soon...... or better yet the product.

I hope most of the old content is there.

I'm guessing this is just a ploy to sell more vaporware batteries. Considering the last update was 14+ months ago and said:
"We have another 400 units, enough to fulfill all remaining pledges and have excess inventory available, scheduled for delivery the second week of January [of 2014]"..
Would love to be surprised, but have no reason to think otherwise.

**checks calendar** **no, not April 1st**
As with the others, I am skeptical but very hopeful. Andy, if you can overcome everything and make this happen it will be a classic tale of redemption. The world will be impressed.

      So, make it happen.

@Fabio Thank you for correcting me. I was pretty sure the domain that I was looking at was incorrect, but when I did an internet search for some reason the proper website did not come up in the results (though it was #1 today; perhaps I simply stupidly overlooked it).

That said, I'm still interested in knowing the specs of the protocol and how to interact with it *without* the use of a specific website service..just in case there really are future issues with it. I will remain realistically hopefuly, though it's hard to be optimistic considering the lack of openness after all this time. I am a backer because I truly believe in this product, but that can only take me so far. :-/

Again, thanks for the correction, Fabio!

    23. Fabio Poloni on

@Brendon mprinter.com was registered back in 2009 and therefore never owned by Andy. The website you're looking for is http://themprinter.com

    24. Daniel S. Fowler on

Hopefully mprinter will enter production and become a purchasable device. The world needs a cheap quality printer alternative to cash sucking inkjets. We don't always need to print to a large page. There are plenty of usage scenarios for a mprinter device. It would be a great device for people in poorer countries who's only computer is a mobile phone.

Not to be negative, but I'll believe it when I get a package in the mail. Or packages, since the battery packs are shipping separately? At this point I'd question the actual physical production quality of the units as well.

Also, as stated below, these printers need a fully developed online support system which no longer exists.

Again, I'm coming at this realistically, and not to be a downer but Andy has left many backers (myself included) with zero faith he's going to deliver anything of quality for the money we provided and he misused for this project.

Considering the mPrinter was tied to the mprinter.com domain/service/protocol, and the domain has now since expired and been bought by a domain squatter (hate those guys), will there be another domain set up? ...or at the very least, the specifications on how the protocol works so an alternative can be set up or created and shared openly (ex: Github)?

Hopefully it'll be a decent receipt printer, but the point of the mPrinter was that it could receive prints from a designated web service, and that web service no longer exists in the place we knew it to exist in the past. I'm sure that there is a lot of work to be done, but realistically I am concerned that the protocol was never shared after all this time, and that was one of the questions I posed prior to backing, and it was stated that we wouldn't *have* to use your service (in case it eventually goes down, or just for choice) and that you would open source the documentation.

Can the documentation and protocols be open sourced, if at all possible?
