Oi Delivery Update

Hi Backers,

It seems that some of our communications in the comment sections have been missed, so here is an update that everybody will be able to see. We’ve had a bit of a hiccup with backers being shipped the wrong size bell from the fulfilment centres. The good news is that we have isolated the issue however it does mean that bells will be delayed for about 1 week until we get this fixed up.

We understand that this is hugely frustrating to all you backers still waiting for bells, but please understand that we’re working as fast as we can to get these to you.

As stated in earlier updates, when these bells do ship you will be sent an email to notify you of this.

Also, in case you missed one of our recent comments, we have noticed that a small handful of the bells that have been shipped are not performing as they should be. Of course, we’re desperate to get a fully functioning Oi in your hands as quickly as we can.

So if you think that you have an issue, all we need you to do is:

1/ Send us through a Direct Message (click on the “created by …Knog” link at the top of the page) with a video of the bell attached to the bike and you striking the bell. We’re keen to see each and every case so we can fix it at the factory level asap.

2/ We’ll check that there isn’t a fix to advise you on and if not, we’ll send a replacement out to you. Please remember to include your address in your message so we can get a replacement out to you asap and reduce email back and forth.

Furthermore, if possible hiccups in the pick, pack & send process have left you with the wrong order then please contact support@backerkit.com and we’ll fix this up for you.

Thanks in advance for your patience.

@Jeffrey Savela: Your tracking details show that your order was delivered to you on the 11th October. If this is not the case then please let us know and we will investigate further.

I received the wrong size bell in mid-Oct. I was informed beginning of November a new bell would be sent within a couple of weeks. Guess what? NOTHING. No bell, no update. From an original estimated delivery date of August this is very poor service. To quote Knog's website:
"design makes up only about 10-20% of what it is to run a successful brand. The other 80-90% are equally important: marketing/sales, logistics, shipping, public relations, advertising, point of sale, quality assurance and consumer service. "
I guess the other 80-90% is not as important as Knog makes out.

I paid for 2 of these bells..... and nothing has arrived on my end. If you are still full filling orders or listening to unfulfilled backers... add me to the list.

My bells arrived today. Very happy with them. Haven't pursued before; I appreciate getting a new product to market very rarely proceeds without problems, pitfalls and possible delays and was happy to take a gamble on that basis. Knog, thank you

It might be a good idea to give us an update when shipment has been made for a particular country so that we can bring it to Knog's attention if we do not receive the delivery email.

    13. Knog 3-time creator on

      Hi Backers,

As some of you have commented, there are some stores that have the bells in a limited number of countries. So we wanted to explain why and how this happened...

About 29,000 bells in two large batches were produced and shipped to our two fulfilment warehouses ready to be processed and sent out. The remaining Kickstarter bells were produced in a subsequent batch along with products destined for retailers. When we decided to allow some retail models to be shipped to a small number of countries – based on typical lead times – all Kickstarter bells were still scheduled to arrive in your hands well ahead of seeing them in shops.

It was at this point that we identified the QA issue that has caused some of you (approximately 80) to experience a thudding noise. So we held back bells to check them, and are remaking about 1000 just to be sure. As we’ve promised, anyone who received a faulty bell will get a replacement. (See “Updates" for the process to do this).

Added to this, instead of shipping these by sea, several markets decided to airfreight the bells, accelerating the time to market.

We would like you to know that it was our intention to have 100% of all backers receive their bells before supplying any retail stores. Because we chose to rework or check a large proportion of bells, this resulted in the timing issue. We understand your frustration and are sorry. We are truly grateful for your support to make this project happen.

We hope the large majority of you that we can see enjoying the product online, or are feeding back to us directly, provide optimism to those still waiting for delivery.

      Thanks,

      Knog

Sounds like more of the same. My bells were shipped on 5 Oct via FedEx "SmartPost" here in the U.S. FedEx tracked them to Denver (80 miles from me) and now after two further weeks and a requested trace, FedEx have advised me the shipment is lost and to contact the shipper.

I have sent several messages to Knog via KickStarter and via the BackerKit Fullfillment Service with no response. I will keep trying and hope Knog will respond and can re-ship the bells. Knog is not a startup company, so I expect more than a "disappearing act"; however, I have a concern that both my bells and my $$ have been lost absent a response.

Radio silence on my end (I'm from Melbourne, Australia) on where my bell is. All I know is that it left the export facility in New York on October 8th, it's currently the 24th of October and no bell and no update. I'm pretty sure my Oi is lost in the mail, and I am quite sure I have lost my money too.

I've had good Kickstarter experiences and bad ones too, looks like this Knog Oi project is unfortunately grouped in the latter.

I got a delivery notice that the knog had bee sent on the 5th of October, then got 3 of the same notices, the last one on the 10th of October and there has been nothing since.

I must say it's really disappointing and frustrating to have to wait endlessly for a product that may or may not work properly. Bike season is almost over for me here in Korea and due to your sheer incompetence, I'll probably never get a chance to field test your product (if I ever receive it).

It find it astounding Knog that you appear to have forgotten a fundamental rule-of-thumb in public relations - to under promise and over deliver. As a successful international brand it's amazing that you have managed to do the exact opposite in this case. An update on when we can expect all bells to be dispatched would be most welcome.

I sent an email to Knog 4 days ago to which you replied asking for a photo of the wrong sized bell I was sent. I have replied as of 4 days ago and haven't yet received an answer from Knog. Sorry to have to come to the comments to find out what's going on? I have to say I'm not very happy with the lack of communication after the long wait getting the product to market. I was a bit annoyed to see footage of finished product including packaging at the bike trade shows before backers had even been shipped to, very offside to my way of thinking!

Do I need to install the bell to know whether or not it is loud enough? Is it the installation that causes the poor sound quality, or is the poor sound quality obvious right out of the package?

    32. Knog 3-time creator on

      Hi Backers,

      Thanks for your comments.

If you are a backer who hasn’t received any recent email communications then an email will be sent out to you later today with an update. This includes anybody who placed a preorder after the campaign closed. Please also check your inboxes and junk folders as some tracking emails have been sent out over the past few days.

If you have received your bell but it is not performing as it should then please either send us through a direct message with a link to your video (via Google Drives, iCloud, Dropbox etc.) or email support@backerkit.com and attach the video file. We will then get on to these straight away and organise for a replacement bell to be sent if needs be.

Furthermore, if possible hiccups in the pick, pack & send process have left you with the wrong order then please contact support@backerkit.com and we’ll fix this up for you.

@Adrian R: You should have been sent your tracking details on October 17. IF you can't find them then please send us a DM and we'll message these through to you.

@Norvern Munky: We'll look into this for you and see why you haven't received any tracking info.

      Thank you.

So, as an update to my previous comment, a bit of truth and honesty would have been nice Knog.

"Bells are on their way to local distribution centres" - Then why is my set of bells shipping from Lancaster PA when I'm in Sydney? Surely you had enough Australian Backers to ship to an Australian DC and then to your Australian Customers?

I'm happy that my bells are on the way, but Kickstarter is about being open with your customers.

Having had some really bad Kickstarter experiences with technology related products, I have dropped any consideration of backing such tech projects. Almost all projects actually... then I saw this and thought I'll give it the benefit of the doubt... I'm starting to regret giving it another go.

I'm not too fussed about the loudness factor of the bells, as mine are simply for legal compliance rather than how much noise they make. 90% Of pedestrians don't hear me anyway due to ear phones.

Both of my bells (1 blk 1 silver) sound much softer than I expected / need them to be, and there's also a slight buzzing sound. In comparison, my spurcycle bell is about twice as loud. Is this what you mean by not performing properly, Knog? This campaign is turning out to be a bit messy judging by the comments here.

      Hi there,
I am commenting on this group to show my disappointment with this campaign. I paid good money as did many others for this product. I appreciate that design problems do arise, but it is now the 18th of October... I live in Holland and have heard nothing about when the delivery will take place or if the bell is actually coming as it sure seems like it isn't. I hope that when the bell comes it has been made with exacting precision and it works faultlessly.

I have backed Kickstarter campaigns prior to this one from people who are in college with equally large campaign backers, and if I am brutally honest they are much better at customer service and milestone reminders.

An update on things would be very helpful and much appreciated,
      Yours
      Henry

Hi guys, like many of my fellow-backers I did not get any messages whether my Oi is on its way or not.
Furthermore, my local bike shop posted very blatantly a picture of 20+ Oi's on his desk ready for sale!
I was of the opinion that backing a real company with admirable morals and very good products would at least give me value for my money and allow its backers to drive around with this curious-looking bell at least a month of 2 before any other mortal would even get his hands on it. But (sadly) I got the feeling that most are being treated as second in line.
Please Knog, up the ante and get your game straight!
