About this project
VERY IMPORTANT :
You can add any available lower pledge to your actual pledge. For example : If you pledge for the London and Cairo Complete you can add Masters of the Black Arts and any add-ons of your choice at the price indicated in the said pledge (in such a case The Scar of the Bloody Tongue will only cost you €26).
I am a classically trained sculptor based in Paris. My husband Denys is a Call of Cthulhu Keeper and he often asks me to help him make props for his campaigns. He is the one who made me discover the role playing game. Denys is also a screenwriter and a bit of an infographic designer. So he is helping me a lot to elaborate and decide this proposal. I can say that he's my art director !
Because he and his players enjoy and appreciate using the props & handouts I create so much, we thought others would too!
But we can't do this project alone... So, if you would like to own a fine-art quality prop, and tailor made handouts, you can help us create some great props by participating in this crowdfunding campaign!
We wanted to offer new props for The Masks of Nyarlathotep even before doing the successful Sedefkar Simulacrum crowdfunding in 2015. But we knew this campaign needed something special and we wanted to take our time and acquire the experience of a successful crowdfunding before launching such an ambitious project. We proposed the London and Cairo Chapter in a successful Kickstarter campaign seven months ago.

We need funds to pay for :
• the casting of the sculptures (it will be done in France either by myself or by professionals and renown casters).
• special tools and materials for achieving a realistic finish on the scar.
• painting materials for the mask of Hayama and the Tribal Statuette.
• packaging. I want to buy better cardboard boxes and protections for the shipment, since last time some objects were damaged by the postal service despite the care I took to wrap the items.
• shipping costs.
The 5000€ goal should allow us to begin production.
If you intend to run a campaign or if you already played the Masks of Nyarlathotep, you probably already know why you are here. Maybe you will enjoy running it again with quality props, if you don't and you intend to do it, you should be aware that their may be some SPOILERS AHEAD, but maybe you could be interested by doing it with your current keeper and tell him about our Kickstarter.
We wanted to propose some sculptures that could help Keepers to enhance the gaming experience. The Sculptures created have for most of them never been proposed before, but we mainly thought about what they could bring to the narrative. They are designed to help the keeper to move the story forward and to help the keeper to give to the vilains something memorable, that will trigger the investigators to fear them.
Select a pledge amount and reward on either the right-hand side of a project page or after clicking the “Back this project” button and selecting “Continue”. From here you’ll be taken to a page where you can continue as a guest, or login if you already have an account. If you would like to continue as a guest, just enter your email address and select “Continue as Guest”.
Make sure to double check your email address – that’s where you’ll receive your pledge confirmation details, messages from us, and a survey to provide details needed to deliver your reward if the project is successful.
Next, fill in your payment details and take a minute to review your pledge details. If you want to purchase add-ons just calculate the amount and add it to the initial pledge. When you’re ready, just click the green “Pledge” button. You may then message us about your add-ons, but even if you forget, there will be a survey after the campaign, if successful, to check your add-ons.
We wanted to propose something that everyone can afford. So we thought that tattoos from the infamous Bloody Tongue cult could be of use for keepers who like to give visual cues to their players that some mayhem may ensue !
You can order 10 temporary tattoos of the bloody tongue sigil. They will be printed by a french renown professional of temporary tattoos. The printed tattoos will be safe for all skin types, and hypoallergenic.
If you need more than 10 tattoos, you can of course order more (but only by 10).
To help keepers to enhance one of the most memorable scene of the campaign I wanted to create a prosthetic make-up scar made with the help of Jacques Olivier Molon, who worked with great make up artist as Stan Winston or studio XFX, on films such as Jurassic Park, Blade 2, Interview with the Vampire… You can use it as a simple evidence to present to your players at the appropriate time, or you can put it on your own forehead with the help of a skin adhesive for a dramatic reveal.
It could even be perfect if you want a subtle Lovecraftian touch for your Halloween party ! For the painting and finish, I will be also trained by Aleks Turnblad. She is a make up artist – and also my great petite cousine.
With the first stretch goal reached, you can now add €4 (only $3 for pledger Early Birds) to have a cardboar.
With the first stretch goal reached, you can now add 4€ (only €3 for Early Birds pledgers) and purchase a black deluxe carboard box to store the scar.
The Fly-Wisk is inspired par the tribal art from East Africa. Since it is a protection artefact, I mixed it with the version of the elder sign designed by Lovecraft. It will be made of horse hair with a decorated handle in polyurethan painted by hand to mimic ebony wood. it will be approximately a foot long. With this the bundari gift to the investigators can really seems like the priced magic item it is intended to be.
You will receive a statuette of the bloody tongue, painted and decorated by hand. It was created to match the description of the avatar. You can use it as a prop object discovered on a dead cultist or in a crate from Emerson Import or another cultist group. It was inspired by Kenya and Congo votive statuette. It will be six inches tall.
I created a carved wooden African mask composed with the pieces of four hideous faces (a combination of four Outer Gods: Nodens, Azathoth, Shub-Niggurath, and Yog-Sothoth) with a few corded neck from a basket-like reed, feathers, and fabric on the collar. I spend a long time visiting the private collection of one of the french most renown expert in tribal art and this experience inspired me a great deal for the Mask of Hayama. It will be approximately one foot tall.
You can purchase with the mask a special box. Since I will propose a lot of props for this Kickstarter, I decided I won't propose aged or handmade box this time. So be aware that the box proposed for the mask of Hayama will not be a prop item, it will just be a black mate cardboard magnetized box to store the mask of Hayama and hide it from the preying eyes of investigators.
The Demon Mask of Hayama
With the 10K Stretch goal attained, I will propose another version of the Mask of Hayama. This version shows what happen when the mask merges with the face of its bearer. You will be able to use it with a great dramatic effect when an investigator tries the mask. You can isolate yourself with the player and give in the demon mask to wear. It will seems to the others that the mask has changed, becoming more threatening and alive.
After talking with my SFX experts friends, I decided to propose it as a high quality silicon mask and not in latex as I thought first. I explained the reasons in this update.
Jacques Olivier will advise me for technical matters. Look at this friendly fellow he created (in silicon)!… not the Alien's head (in latex), of course.
• The Demon mask of Hayama will cost €472. You can add it to your current pledge.
• Early bird pledgers can add it for only 442€.
For those who missed the previous crowdfunding campaign, you still can acquire the main objects from the London and Cairo Chapters.
• The inverted ankhs : The Egyptian Ankh was inspired by a Egyptian low relief found during my research. The British Ankh is of course more related to the designs of the period.
• The pendant chain : it can be purchase in two different qualities : metal alliage or silver.
• The jewel box for the pendants with the monogram from the Penhew Fondation.
• The Ring of Cthugha.
• The Eye of Light and Darkness
• The twin scepter in their aged monogrammed box.
• The Mirror of Gal.
Risks and challenges
Much effort and dedication has gone into putting these specialty items together. This crowdfunding opportunity may be the only way to acquire such one-of-a-kind props as they will most likely never be offered commercially again. If you are a true fan of the Masks of Nyarlathotep and wish to enhance your gaming experience, this is a truly unique opportunity to do so.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
