Welcome (back) to the world of THE INCREDIBLE BUN!
Your family's favourite BUFF FLUFF is back in a brand new all-ages MADIUS comic adventure from writer Michael Sambrook, artist Rosie Packwood and letterer Rob Jones (with special thanks to Doug Wood and Alouisse Ver for their assistance on colour flats).
Regardless of whether you're new to the world of THE INCREDIBLE BUN or you're joining us again after backing the first issue, this is the KICKSTARTER for you. We're offering up both the brand new issue as well as a chance to catch up on the first if you missed it. We don't want anyone to feel left out. There's plenty of space in the hutch for everyone.
THE INCREDIBLE BUN follows the tale of a giant rabbit trying to make his way in a strange and confusing world. An ugly duckling story overflowing with colourful characters, surprising twists n' turns and a whole lot of heart.
Bun never really fit in with his family, probably because he's about ten times larger than the rest of them. Feeling like an outcast and as though he didn't belong, he headed to the city to try and find his purpose in life. Things didn't exactly go smoothly for him. Follow this poor old Bun's journey into a city that's bright, loud and very very confusing. He's going to need all the help he can get!
This Kickstarter is for the second issue of the book which covers the next two chapters of the story and will consist of 25 full colour, full awesome pages. We're also offering up a chance to get your hands on the first issue as well in case you missed out first time round, or maybe you just want a spare copy to share with your friends and family. Either way, we can hook you up. Not only that, we're also offering up the chance to get your hands on some very cool, very exclusive merch. But more about that in a minute.
What are the critics saying?
"The charming silliness of both Sambrook’s writing and Packwood’s artwork really shines through, and I defy anyone to witness Bun’s impressive kicking skills and not have a smile on their face."
"An all-ages comic that will actually appeal to all ages, Bun is a book with a surprising amount of depth and has the potential, when all’s said and done, to end up as the glittering jewel at the centre of the Madius Comics crown."
"Something rather special."
"Sweet, exciting and exceptionally well crafted. I can’t wait for the next one."
"The sweet story really struck a chord, as did the artwork. I think Rosie is going to be a true asset to Madius Comics, and one to watch!"
"It’s smart, it’s funny, it’s bittersweet from the beginning and that all combines to make Bun something special."
What can I get my hands on?
We're offering up both digital and physical versions of the book, so regardless of how you like to read, the choice is yours. Alongside the various versions of the book, for the first time ever we're offering up the chance to get your hands on some exclusive INCREDIBLE BUN merch too. Oof, we spoil you. If you back one of the deluxe tiers of the book here's a peek at some of the fantastic extras you can grab.
Mike has been writing and editing comics through MADIUS COMICS for the last 5 years releasing far more books than he can keep track of such as PAPERCUTS & INKSTAINS, HORRERE, GRIFF GRISTLE & RAMLOCK INVESTIGATES.
Rosie Packwood is an incredibly talented Suffolk based artist who has worked with MADIUS comics on a number of titles. Her work has featured in two issues of PAPERCUTS & INKSTAINS (issues 3a and 7) and in the collected PAPERBACKS & INKSTAINS. She is also known as Pocketm0use and can usually be found hiding inside your skirting board.
Rob Jones is another MADIUS stalwart and Mike's co-writing partner on just about everything mentioned above. He worked with Mike on PAPERCUTS & INKSTAINS, HORRERE, GRIFF GRISTLE & RAMLOCK INVESTIGATES. He also writes THE VIKING SAGAS and letters pretty much every comic that has ever been released. INCLUDING THIS ONE!
Risks and challenges
There are no risks and there are no challenges. We've been making comics over at Madius Comics for the last 5 years and we've got a pretty good idea of what we're doing at this point. The book is already fully drawn and coloured and just being lettered right now, so we are already 90% of the way there. We already have a release date planned for Thought Bubble so everything should proceed nice and smoothly and we should have books in your hands in no time at all!
