Yes. You can use standard wheels (70mm X 50mm) and bearings. While BoardUp's rear truck is standard, its front truck is unique to this longboard. The good news is that trucks normally last a long time.
Based on the dimensions currently disclosed on Mellow's website, the front truck can be replaced by Mellow's electric truck if one corner of the truck is cut to accommodate the Kick Pad (using metal saw which is typically less than $40). However, we have not yet assembled Mellow's electric truck to see if it works or not in practice.
For a bolder presence, we refined the artwork to be more aesthetically simple. It was carefully designed by a talented artist we knew through friends in the in Bay Area who has a passion for boarding. Over 80% of the backside surface will be the original Canadian maple color. With the same passion and creativity we put into BoardUp, we think you'll love it as is.
We designed it so that, as you ride on campus or through the streets, the hinge won't collide with bumps that you may come across. At 1 1/4" tall, if the board were flat, this may cause a disturbance in your ride as you run over something below the longboard. That's why we slightly bowed the middle. Friends of ours and professional longboarders have tried it out and they prefer how smooth of a ride it becomes with this feature.
You are right. This is a previous version of BoardUp. Since the shooting of the video, we have updated:
1. .. the locking mechanism to make the longboard more firm when unfolded.
2. .. the Kick Pad on the nose to aluminum alloy to make it lighter weight, but much stronger.
3. .. the artwork to make it more refined, but leave over 80% more available space on the back of the longboard so you can paint and add stickers of your choosing. Of course, you could also leave it as it. To reference the artwork, please refer to the 'Specification' section (above).
