About this project
PLEASE SEE THE UPDATE: Smart Armor is now available for both the iPad and iPad2!
Hello and welcome to the Smart Armor project page! With your support we can bring this iPad case to market.
Smart Armor is the complete iPad protection system. Aluminum accent panels protect the display and provide the iPad with a built in stand. Exclusive to the iPad2, magnets wake up the iPad2 and put it to sleep. The woven nylon sleeve protects the back of the iPad from bumps and scratches.
The iPad is a unique and striking device that deserves an equally inspired case. The case interacts with the magnetic capabilities of the iPad2 with embedded magnets that are hidden within the fabric of the case. The aluminum panels are a unique way to provide additional protection and show your personality.
The Smart Armor cover consists of four anodized aluminum panels. The panels provide additional protection to the display and discreetly conceal the magnets that interact with the iPad2. The panels are securely sewn into a nylon fabric sleeve which provides a soft cover for the display. The cover folds up to provide the iPad with a stable and secure base.
The cover is attached to the fabric case by webbing hardware. The hardware acts as a hinge allowing the cover to rotate to the back of the iPad. When the iPad is in use, the cover can be neatly tucked out of the way. The case has cutouts to allow full use of all of the iPad′s features without removal.
Smart Armor is ready for summer production! The material vendors are all based in the United States. The case will be assembled and fabricated in Chicago, Illinois. Kickstarter supporters who pledge $80 or more have an opportunity to be the first to own a production Smart Armor case! See the Pledge section on the right for more information.
