About this project
In order to make this project happen, we're asking for the help of you beautiful philanthropists. All of us involved on the film have been working in our fields for a number of years and we now bring that experience together in collaboration to make a quality short-feature. Our budget can be broken up into five main units: camera, audio, lighting, props/wardrobe, and practical special effects. To give you a better idea of what your hard earned but generously donated dollars will go to, I've outlined some of the specifics below.
We already have access to a high-quality camera setup, so the budget for the camera unit will go mainly toward lens rentals, camera manipulation (i.e. dollies, jib cranes, steady-cam, etc.) and storage. There is a lot of movement incorporated in our shooting style for this film. We want to bring you into this beautiful (yet deadly) location we have chosen as a backdrop for our project through our visual story-telling and camera operation.
You can have the most beautifully framed shot in the world, but if it's not lit properly it's completely wasted. More than fifty percent of our film takes place at night and/or in the woods. This is another area we already have a fair portion of the equipment we require and just need a last little push to get us where we want to be. Our main expense for this department involves getting power to our remote location, and rigging lights safely and effectively deep in the woods. Through careful planning during pre-production, we feel we can make the very most of every dollar spent.
Easily half of the production value of any film is audio, and we want to make sure we get it right. We are bringing in an experienced technician to head our audio unit and will utilize industry standard equipment to make sure you (the audience) are put right in the middle of this hilarious school trip gone fatal. We need a portable recording device, boom and lavaliere microphones, and screens to protect against the elements since we shoot almost entirely out doors.
Down in "Black Holler" there some people gonna die y'all, and that is up to our practical FX unit. There is everything from fog and wind, to possessed vines and murderous tree limbs. And, of course, body parts and BUCKETS OF BLOOD. We have an experienced FX team who are building a ton of custom props and prosthetics, and we want to be able to provide them the raw materials they need to give you the most holler for your dollar.
We're pulling and borrowing as many pieces as we can for our wardrobe, but we are striving for authenticity by making the clothing representative of the time period. Since the majority of the wardrobe will suffer the same fate as our cast, we need a couple versions of each outfit. We are lucky enough to have access to a decent amount of props from working on previous projects, but there are many things that are time period specific that we need such as camping equipment, food and drink, and vehicles. We also have some items such as puppets, signage, and electronics that are being constructed specifically for this project.
Of course there are the incidentals that arise on every production regardless of budget. We are doing our very best to minimize these through meticulous planning, but sadly they are unavoidable. Our talented cast and crew are giving their time and efforts, so at the very least, we want to make sure they're fed and compensated for gas. Once the film is complete we hope to share it with as many people as we can. We plan on submitting to several film festivals as well as arranging local and nearby screenings. Any money we raise past our goal will go toward these objectives.

Risks and challenges
This close-knit group of seasoned actors have been putting out successful and inventive projects consistently for the past few years in Nashville.
We're covering most of the costs with our collective resources and our dedicated professionals offering their time and talents.
Thankfully, risks are minimal for this project! The entire cast and crew are adamant on making a great film together. Our locations and much of our camera equipment are being provided from our talented team. We're doing everything we can for as little cost as possible, while still seeing out our vision for an incredible movie.
Weather: We're proud to be filming this entire movie in Tennessee! But Tennessee weather is unpredictable, and we need to shoot this whole thing before Fall is over!
Making Enough $$$: We are totally resourceful! We've put together everything we can, and we need your help to make this movie AWESOME! We have to power our set in rural Tennessee, and that brings up technical needs beyond our usual reach. We've got all the ingredients to make a truly high quality movie... except your financial help.
