About

Sensitive Adult Daily started in July 2015 when I was undergoing therapy for a Major Depressive Episode. I wanted to create an organisation/community group for young adults (18-25) where mental illness and feelings weren't shut down and instead supported and understood.

I have had many friends, family and acquaintances who suffer daily with mental illness but are seen as lazy, moody etc when it is obvious they are not coping with expectation and responsibility that comes with being an adult.

SAD began with a tumblr blog. Then I established an instagram, facebook, twitter and have recently acquired a domain to host my official website. I'm wanting to spread my message, allow people to realise and accept that we are all sensitive adults just trying to navigate the world/mental health in our own way, in our own time and at our own pace.

I've always used humour to mask my anxiety/depression/feelings but have found an outlet where I can use humour sarcastically to include people that are also suffering with mental illness. As i began to explore this, creating a database of inspiration on my tumblr page, I received support and encouragement from friends and followers. From here I started working on a zine. (for those who don't know- a zine is a mini magazine based on a niche subject)

I created my first one and have been selling them online and handing them out to my friends. I'm creating the second one A5 size but am concerned it will cost me too much per zine to afford to spread them to the community, to the university and to everyone that could benefit from my message.

My goal is to distribute the zines for free and allow young adults support and knowledge.

Risks and challenges

Besides personal challenges (motivation/funding) I see no other risks or challenges with trying to distribute and educate people with my zines. My information is researched, relevant and scientific as I have studied Psychology at University and with to further my studies in the future.
