Smile, We Get to Make Beer! is about the freedom of expression that comes out when you follow your dreams. It’s about connecting to a community in a way that makes a difference. It’s about daring to fail and pushing forward through whatever it takes to succeed and knowing that success is not measured by the size of a bank account but by the contentment and satisfaction that comes from doing what you love. Oh, and it’s about beer!
Funds will go towards completing the film in post-production and further marketing and distributing to film festivals and other events. The main goal of this campaign is to make the best film and bring it to as many people as possible.
General costs include:
- DVD production and duplication
- Graphic designs and printed materials
- Festival entry fees
- Distribution costs
- Screening costs
This film follows the day to day operations of the NoDa Brewing Company, situated just a few blocks north of downtown Charlotte, North Carolina. Chad Henderson (Head Brewer) along with Todd and Suzie Ford (Owners) work tirelessly to produce fine craft beer that reflects the arts based district for which they are named after. You will see first hand what it takes for them to pursue their dreams and reach out to their community so that at the end of the day they can smile, because they don’t have to make beer, they get to.
After nearly a year of filming everything from home brews, production, expansion, festivals (even the Great American Beer Festival), ups and downs, this film will takes an intimate look at the people who own and operate NoDa brewing Company.
Risks and challenges
There is still much to be done to complete the film like editing, marketing, distribution, and production of materials. In order to finish the film to the best of it's ability and get it out to the public as much as possible, I need your help.
