Mechanaflux #2 - All-Ages Fantasy Comic Book
An all-ages fantasy about young kids who travel to a magical world under the control of a mechanical tyrant.
What Is Mechanaflux?
Mechanaflux is a comic book. It is a 6 issue mini-series. It is appropriate for all ages. This specific Kickstarter is for Issue #2.
What Is Mechanaflux About?
Three Earth children (Cory, Jackson, & Arad) fall into the world of Flux and meet a sword-fighting princess, the last sorceress, and a centaur general (Maria, Darius, & Gluss) and together they must stop the evil living mecha, Guadra, from turning the entire world into metal.
Long ago, Wolt created the first life form by combining magic and technology (called Guadra). However, Guadra quickly mastered a new form of magic and conquered the capital. For years Wolt has tried to make amends, but he perished before he could use his greatest weapon.
Now, 13 years later, his children are revealed. Cory and Maria learn they are really brother and sister, and find themselves the only ones capable of using the weapon Wolt created. However, it has a stipulation: only those free of negative emotions are able to use it, and Cory and Maria must overcome their own inner anger if they are to truly save the world.
Issue #2 continues off of the Cliffhanger of issue #1 (this issue never had a Kickstarter), with the Earth children now in Flux, about to be targeted for termination by mechanical soldiers called Mecheers. Issue two develops the relationships between most of the characters and shows what happened to Flux to make it the barren land it is today.
All-Ages Fantasy Comic Books
Fantasy is everywhere in books, and more recently, movies. However, it is not very prominent in comic books with the overabundance of superhero comics. In addition, the number of comic books for kids both male and female is very slim. I want to make an outstanding all-ages fantasy comic book that everyone can enjoy.
I have always wanted to write fantasy, and Mechanaflux is my first fantasy comic book. I want to write for all-ages because I want kids to experience the joy I had for fantasy when I was young.
Why Do You Need Money / $2,500.00?
Money is necessary to pay the artist, and pay for printing costs (a print run of 300 issues). The total for these is $2,500.00 for Issue #2.
Stretch Goal - $1,000.00 ($3,500.00 total)
Another dream of mine is to be able to create animation. If I make $3,500.00, I will create an animated Trailer for Mechanalfux that will include all the characters set to stunning, hand drawn animation and breathtaking music. The animator is ready to begin, but all she needs now is money to proceed. Help me achieve this and create my first piece of animation. IF I DO NOT MAKE MY STRETCH GOAL, THIS ANIMATION WILL NOT BE MADE
In addition, if I see that my Stretch Goal has been exceeded, I will add a Stretch Goal for more animated short films. These prequels (already written) will focus on specific characters from before they entered Mechanalfux #1. All of these would be FREE for everyone to watch online, and you could make this happen.
Plus, these trailers and shorts have additional potential to cross-promote my comic book and get it out more to the public.
All rewards are of the right side and any questions about them are in the FAQ when questions arise. However, a brief summary of what you can get are Digital Comics (#1 & #2), Physical Comic Books (#1 & #2), 3 Different Prints (8x10), Exclusive Sketches, Exclusive look at Behind-the-Scenes materials (scripts & original sketches), A Free Trailer Viewable To The World (maybe), and Your Name Listed As A Backer In A Future Comic.
Mechanaflux Trade Paperback
Mechanflux is only at Issue #2, but I will continue all the way to Issue #6. In addition, a One-Shot sequel is also in the works. Ultimately, I will include all 7 issues into a trade paperback in the future, and would get them available at Amazon .com & Barnes & Nobel .com through the use of CreateSpace.
Every 2 days, I will post another picture and character bio from the Mechanaflux series.
Maria is the adopted daughter of the King & Queen of Aria and looks up to Darius as an older sister. She has been intensely trained in combat and educated in the ways of kingship. Though she appears not to take things very seriously, once battle begins, her instinct and training take over. Darius was almost killed by Chimera, and this has led her to distrust machines ever since. She must overcome her intense hatred of everything machine if her world is to be saved.
Risks and challenges
I do not expect any problems making the comic book, because my artist and I have a good working relationship, and Issue #2 is almost done. However, once the comic is complete, the risks come from trying to stand out in a comic book market that is now easier to get into more than ever. Promoting myself and the comic will be the hardest thing in the process.
I have done a previous Kickstarter for a comic book called Strength. I have fullfilled all rewards (except for the comic itself since the artist is still working on it) so I will not be working on both projects at once. Additionally, this comic is nearly complete, and I know all the rewards can be fulfilled within 2 months of the end of the Kickstarter project (minus putting backers names in Issue #3, because that issue isn't complete yet).Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
