About this project
Several years ago I made it a goal to always carry a sketchbook. This lead to the creation of Sketch Wallet - a leather wallet that holds a sketchbook. It comes in black or chocolate brown leather with a matching sketchbook.
If there is a combination of things you'd like, but don't see in the rewards, just do the math and give me a note explaining what you want. For example, if you'd like one sketchbook and a t-shirt, just select the t-shirt and then add $4 to your pledge for the sketchbook.
I've been using a prototype Sketch Wallet for two years and absolutely love it. I can't imagine not having one. It doesn't matter where I am, the doctor's office, a restaurant, or wherever. If I have a few moments I'll doodle a few sketches instead of surfing the net on my phone. I've come to cherish all these quirky little drawings and many of these raw ideas I've developed further into games I create for work and other projects. This has brought the joy of drawing back, and has helped me improve my skills.
The Sketch Wallet is very flat and is designed to maximize the area of a standard men's back pocket without feeling bulky or heavy.
Attention writers and note takers - now you have the option of lined paper! After the campaign you will receive an email survey and can pick blank sketch books or lined paper books.
We respect craftsmen everywhere, but I wanted to use local factories to ensure the best quality and ethics possible. Our wallets and sketchbooks are made in the USA.
UNLOCKED! If we hit $35,000 every reward level, small or large, gets a small metal page clip.
UNLOCKED! If we hit $40,000 every wallet will come with a custom short *pencil perfectly sized to fit the pencil pocket. *Pencil design may change (still figuring out what type of pencil)
Risks and challenges
I've tried to anticipate potential challenges with this project and have made every effort to overcome them. The factory and printers are already in place. The wallet dies and hot stamps have already been made. Not only have a few prototypes been made but I manufactured a small batch just to work out all the kinks in manufacturing before the Kickstarter campaign began. It's extremely expensive to manufacture a small batch, but I felt it was crucial to ironing out any kinks in the pipeline beforehand. While I don't have any leather product experience, I have, over the years, designed, manufactured, and shipped hundreds of products made of metal, plastic, and rubber. While I'm sure I can't foresee every potential problem, I will be very open about any challenges that may arise, and will communicate often with my backers.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
