Frequently Asked Questions
The price of the Omni after our Kickstarter campaign will be $499. Our Kickstarter backers receive a discount and get their orders fulfilled before any retail orders, so get on board now.Last updated:
The objective of our Kickstarter campaign is to get as many Omnis as possible to VR enthusiasts, gamers, researchers, and developers. To achieve this goal and to thank our early backers, we are offering the Omni at a significant discount to the future retail price. To be sustainable, however, we need to increase our price after the initial batch of Omnis has been sold. The retail price of the Omni post-Kickstarter will be $499.Last updated:
We are developing a wireless tracking solution using accelerometers for motion tracking and magnetic sensors for orientation tracking, which will be attached to each shoe. The tracking hardware and software will be included in your Omni reward, so you do not need a Kinect, even though our software supports it.Last updated:
The DIY Omni is not for everyone. The Omni needs a good upper support structure to work well, and you’ll need to build it from scratch. We want to avoid that a large audience buys the DIY version and underestimates the difficulty of this task, resulting in dissatisfaction.Last updated:
Depending on how far you live from either the West or East Coast, domestic shipping costs will be in the $60-$90 range for doorstep delivery of the standard Omni. Additional shoes, belts and rack will increase the shipping costs.
We have excluded shipping costs from the reward thresholds, so that backers can keep flexibility over how much they want to spend on shipping; some people like the Omni delivered at their doorstep, others don’t mind picking it up at a distribution center. We plan to organize “pick-up events” in major cities for those who’d like to keep shipping costs at a minimum (and meet our backers at the same time).
The shipping cost will be confirmed and billed to you when we are ready for manufacturing and have collected your delivery preference. No need to add shipping fees to your pledge amount.Last updated:
If you are buying an Omni internationally, you must take shipping costs and VAT into consideration. International shipping is complicated, and can be costly depending on where you live. We do not want to exclude any continents, and will do our best to make this work with international distribution centers and pick-up locations (we will pay for ocean freight to your continent). You need to verify and add your country’s import duties and VAT, if applicable.
International shipping costs will be confirmed and billed to you when we are ready for manufacturing and have collected your delivery preference. No need to add shipping fees to your pledge amount. Clip-ons are an option for the future, but not initially. All footwear is different, and ensuring that clip-ons work smoothly for all shoes is a difficult task. To avoid the risk of malfunctioning Omni soles and to maintain control over the functionality of the Omni, we prefer to offer full footwear initially. Note that not all cultures have footwear readily available to wear inside homes. That said, other options besides full footwear are being investigated.Last updated:
