Roy and Karen, new parents living in suburbia, have a terrifying break-in. Roy decides its time to purchase a handgun for home defense, but soon becomes obsessed with mastering his new toy and the power it gives him. Karen is hurt and resentful, as her husband isn't holding up his end of the partnership. Roy continues to become more confrontational with a neighbor and strangers, all while having dark fantasies like never before. Shot in a minimalist style, GUN explores the nature of humanity at its most basic level and how power can influence the mind.
Why we need your help!
Principal photography is complete and the film is picture-locked! We believe so much in the strength of the film that we want it to look, sound, and feel top notch. We're already more than half way there, but need to put the finishing touches that take the film to the next level. This is a fantastic opportunity to invest in a project with tons of heart and talent that is bound to succeed! We need your help to make that final step!
What your money will go towards when you contribute:
Color Correction – The brilliant Tom Poole of Company 3 has enthusiastically joined the team as our colorist. His recent work includes DRIVE, which was nominated for the Palm d'Or at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival.
Sound Design / Sound Editing / Sound Mixing – A large part of telling the story in GUN is through sound. That's why we are thrilled to have Dan Flosdorf on board. Dan's notable work includes the award winning films L.I.E. and BLUE VALENTINE.
Music Composition / Score – Mark degli Antoni will helm the creation of the score. His recent scores include the 2011 Academy Award nominee KILLING IN THE NAME, Werner Herzog's INTO THE ABYSS, and ROMAN POLANSKI: WANTED AND DESIRED.
Final Mastering – Once the color and sound are finished we must create a master for the completed film. We plan to do this jointly through Company 3 and their parent company Deluxe. Going this route will ensure we have the highest quality master of the film with which to create duplicates for film festival screenings and DVD distribution.
Film Festival Submissions – Our first submission will be to the Sundance Film Festival followed by a slate of some great festivals like SXSW, Tribeca, Palm Springs International, Berlin International, LA International, and more.
We were fortunate to gather an amazing cast and crew for a truly collaborative effort in creating a this film.
