I've pencilled Thor for Marvel, and illustrated The Atomic Legion and Mandala for Dark Horse. I've also written and illustrated Terminal Point and Atlas for Dark Horse, as well as designing for Disney, Dreamworks, Pixar, and Blue Sky. But the story I am the most passionate about is The Zone Continuum. This is a story about our world rocked by ecological chaos, and about us as people struggling to break free of our barriers.
The Zone Continuum was a four book series printed by Caliber Press. Then it became a richer tapestry of drama as a Komikwerks web series, with over 100 episodes, in the new millennium. Now, in 2014, it's time to bring the story back to a world that has unfortunately caught up to the book's prophecy of environmental chaos. Now...is the time for new adventures in the Zones.
The New Zone Continuum series will be a 4 issue set of books, now in glorious color. While we have a publisher's commitment, we must first raise the funds to create the books. The $10,000 goal will get us launched and able to produce the first two books, which can get the publisher on line for a release date. We hope to raise funds beyond our goal so that we can proceed with the final two books, but regardless, Kickstarter will make the project happen. All participants will be kept in touch with each phase of the production.
The Zone Continuum is a story about the first race of man, The Dar, who now live in Zones all across the earth. Each Zone contains boundaries that cannot be crossed by the Dar. But because modern humans have been destroyed the eco-system and bombarding the planet with microwave transmission, the Zones have become unstable.
- Talon lives in Zone 27 in the heart of New York City in an abandoned water tower called Roc's Nest. The Zone is shrinking and has risen to 150 feet off the ground, forcing the Dar to live above the fifteenth floor. To pass the borders means certain death. Talon's wife lives in the adjacent Zone 26 which is also changing and pulling further away from Talon. They must use all of their powers to find a way to break through their Zones to be together once again.
Talon is trying to prevent the next Hydro-Dynamic Shift that will reverse Earth's polarity from wiping out all humanity. Talon's enemy is Spere. He believes humanity should be destroyed--that is the only way to stop the degradation of the Zones and return this planet to its pristine state.
Every night, Talon and Spere go to the rooftop world of the towering city and perform the Ritual of Combat so that they may be favored by the gods to be victorious.
Once their Zone Equipment is hooked in to Bit-Link, they are ready to Ride the Continuum Waves with the help of their Zone Suit, Wave Rider Belt, and Zone Gloves, to begin the hunt for each other...somewhere high above the city.
But while the hunt goes on, the Continuum Instability adds dangers at every turn in the form of Viper Weaves and Black Storms.
Only the wide variety of Zone Equipment can keep a combatant safe against the strange and exotic forces.
The rooftop cat and mouse game goes on, the winner will determine whether mankind will survive. This is a story that goes back to our earliest history and includes monsters, demons, Zone Techs and Zone Labs, strange new technologies, the Stripper of Souls, and a love story that has withstood the trials of time itself. This is...The Zone Continuum.
Risks and challenges
The hardest part of this project is predicting the exact release date. Once the publisher is able to see the first finished book, then they will have to find the earliest date they can release the book.
The actual creation of the story and art, while labor intensive, is more straight forward. I've produced finished books, from writing all the way through color, for Dark Horse, Cailber, and Marvel, so I know how to put books together in a timely and responsible way.
Since I'm a one man operation, writing the story as well as creating the final art, I'm not at the mercy of working with collaborators who might slow down the production.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
