Gyrating Hamsters is a fast-paced, highly interactive card game designed for 2-5 players and takes about 30 minutes to play. The objective of the game is to grow your Hamster Horde faster than your opponents and become Hamster King (or Queen)!
With 5 unique card types and numerous variations, Gyrating Hamsters gameplay involves light strategy and heavy replay-ability. Each turn consists of drawing and playing combinations of hamsters and actions. You can battle, hoard, steal or attack your opponents' hamster hordes or hands directly. Cards are played to manipulate hands, hordes, battles or multiple things at once!
At the end of each turn, players have the option of combating opponents directly in winner-take-all battles.

After positive feedback from our friends and family, we realized that in order to obtain the most unbiased and accurate feedback for Gyrating Hamsters, we would need to get the game into strangers' hands.
We conducted and personally financed three rounds of play-testing. We manufactured Gyrating Hamsters three different times, each time improving upon the game based on the feedback received. In order to receive unbiased feedback, we created pre-play and post-play surveys. The purpose of the pre-play surveys was to ensure that we had representations from multiple demographics, including age, gender, and gaming tendencies.
We created a variety of surveys to fit the needs of the play-testers and the needs of our team. We had quick surveys (that could be done in less than one minute) and full length surveys where play-testers could give as much information as they wished, yet was still quantifiable.
After three rounds of play-testing, we sent Gyrating Hamsters to professional reviewers that we connected with via social media. As you can see from their reviews, they also loved Gyrating Hamsters.
We hope this brief overview of our play testing process shows you how much time, care, and effort we placed into giving you the best possible version of Gyrating Hamsters. This game has been battle tested and worn hard by both experts and novices alike and the consensus is clear: Gyrating Hamsters is the real deal!
We have every logistical aspect of Gyrating Hamsters lined up to get you the game as fast as our little tails can. We have the manufacturing, shipping, and fulfillment centers ready for your order, both domestically and internationally. We have all the original artwork completed to streamline post Kickstarter processes.
After the campaign is done these furry little creatures are going to print. The games will ship directly to our fullfillment centers from the manufacturer which means cheaper costs to everyone..HOORAY! Plus, check out the friendly shipping we have setup:
Gyrating Hamsters was designed by Andrew & Allison Gerbsch and Alex & Rebekah Host. The illustrations are by Yi Liu. This is the first game we created as a team, and therefore our first Kickstarter.
In short, we are simply two gaming couples who LOVE to play tabletop games! Gyrating Hamsters was born around a literal Hibachi table. As we caught up on our most recent gaming purchases and stories, we jokingly brought up creating our own game. "It can't be that hard" we said. Well, boy were we wrong. Seeing this side of the business has given us a whole new perspective on our favorite hobby.
From the beginning, our goal was to create a fun, casual card game that required some strategy without requiring people to commit several hours to play.
Finally, we are quite proud of how Gyrating Hamsters turned out. After rounds of play-testing with our peers, domestic play-testing from complete strangers, and 3rd party reviews, we feel that Gyrating Hamsters strikes the perfect balance of engagement, humor, strategy, and design. It is the fast paced, engaging, humorous, and vibrant game we wanted and we can't thank you enough for help making our hamster pipe dream a reality. Here's a super old picture of when we received our first prototype of Gyrating Hamsters. Are selfie sticks still a thing?
Risks and challenges
There are always risks and challenges with every Kickstarter project, but we've taken a lot of time preparing to make sure that we can get this game to you as quickly and accurately as possible. Other than the fan-voted hamsters, our game is 100% complete. We will have them ready to go by the end of the campaign.
We have our printing and shipping ready to go! We want our game in as many hands as possible because we think it's pretty hamtastic and we hope you do too!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
