"Carrion, Carried On"
"She embarked on a journey to set a world record. In failing, she learned a cruel lesson in nature, politics, wildlife, and perseverance. As she continued the journey through the bitter winter of the north despite not achieving her goal, humanity was her saving grace. In Carrion, Carried On, read the true story of Calleigh Little, the transgender woman who gave up everything to skateboard across the USA."
car·ri·on: noun. The decaying flesh of dead animals.
My name is Calleigh Little – I’m an adventurer first, a writer second, a competitive skateboarder third, and a self-publisher fourth. This is my FIRST book, based entirely on my first adventure from Bend, Oregon to Boston, Massachusetts in 48 days.
The book is a 9” x 7” softcover paperback with over 150 pages including 33 photographs, 29 of my favorite excerpts of writing from the road, route data (including elevation maps, pathways, and exact locations), statistics, an introduction and a conclusion, and the text documented each day. Take advantage of the never-before-seen pictures and chapters unavailable on my website in print! Chapters that were previously unreleased online are now finally available in this absolutely one-of-a-kind anthology.
The E-Book version is a simple PDF in two parts - unmodified from the original version. It serves as a testament to the tangible copies, but also includes never-before-read full blogs from the final 8 days of skateboarding across the USA, 4 unreleased blogs from the Florida adventure, and a PDF e-book anthology of every journal written on the road from Day 1 to Day 48. It's an unreleased and unseen collection you can only get here on Kickstarter!
This book is a passion project – it’s not a great fit for a publisher and because of the immense amount of hours I’ve poured into it, I want total control over the production. By preordering the book, you are not only receiving this amazing book I wrote and designed, but you are also making my dreams come true, supporting future adventures, additional volumes, and ultimately the future novel based also on my first cross country trek. This is the only way to support me in a way that produces something tangible – a project made with love and all of the humor I share with my followers.
The money explicitly goes to printing and shipping the books. The book is already produced and ready to be printed with a local business allowing me to make prices as cheap as possible for larger quantity runs. The goal is low to accommodate an initial 100 copies, but if we bypass that, I’ll be able to aim higher for hard cover versions, or even fund a volume 2 based on my most recent cycling adventure. Ultimately more copies sold means that I can be closer to spending less time web designing and marketing to focus on making my novel a reality.
Backing this project brings you, the supporter and purchaser, REWARDS! Ranging from smaller things like getting your name printed in my book as a contributor to larger gifts like receiving a used skate deck. Obviously the book is the purpose of the Kickstarter, and in order to honor that most rewards include a copy!

Risks and challenges
There are few risks involved - the project is completed and ready for print. This Kickstarter is about securing interest and providing an initial batch for everyone and beyond. After the Kickstarter ends, I will reach out for names and shipping addresses.
My printer, who is local to me, is on standby to get them done as soon as possible. As soon as they are shipped to me, I will sign the appropriate products and have them at your door ASAP!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
