The Somber Crown: Issue 2

Hey everyone!

I wanted to let all of you know that I have created a high-action-fantasy comic, which is currently on its 2nd issue and looking for funding through Kickstarter:

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1939188463/the-somber-crown-issue-2

We are now within our 3rd week, closing in on our last, and we could use any bit of help available! Please consider sharing the campaign with your friends and fellow comic aficionado's, along with checking out this AWESOME pinup from my good friend Anderson Cabral; which is now available as a great PRINT for this 2nd issue.

There are TONS of great reward incentives for helping push this campaign to its goal, such as EXCLUSIVE art prints, ORIGINAL canvas/page artwork, and even T-SHIRTS.

Thanks SO much to those who have helped me get this far and for everyone still waiting to jump on board - Let's finish strong!

A week into funding

A week later and I couldn't be more ecstatic. I wasn't positive that we would make it quite this far by this point, but thanks to all those who have funded so far, we have gone past the initial 25% mark and are well on our way to complete funding!

With many thanks to BleedingCool.com for providing me with coverage and posting an article written by me, here.

Also, my good friends Tony and Will from Comicbooked.com have been super helpful with coverage and support within every spectrum. Considering they are my go-to for comic/movie news, I couldn't be happier.

Let's keep the momentum high into the new week and keep these percentages steady; thanks to everyone again and make sure to spread the word to whomever you know!

My Page Process

So for my second update, I thought I'd share a little bit of process with you all. This is the step by step that I take to create the images that you end up seeing, starting with a single sheet of white bristol... And ending with a lot of digital stuff going on.

Step 1) Line art. This is me penciling onto the page, typically (but not always) from a thumbnail sketch, and then going over those same lines with micron pens. I use a lot of Copic's for this step.

Step 2) Digital coloring (or shading). I then go over my scanned line art, throw it into photoshop, and work my stylus until my hands are about to break. This is, in all honesty, my favorite step... Because you can really see the effect that color (or shades) can have within an overall page. It allows you to really guide the eye towards where you'd like as well.

Step 3) Digital Lettering. I then send my finished pages to my letterer, YdAo, who proceeds to work his own magic using a lot of fonts. This step is also helpful with guiding the readers' eye towards where you'd like. YdAo is very, very, very good at this... Which makes my job that much simpler.
