For the past eight summers, Kentucky Conservatory Theatre has staged SummerFest to large and enthusiastic crowds. This is Lexington's ONLY outdoor theatre festival, featuring a wide range of projects; including Shakespeare, classical theatre, contemporary theatre and musical productions.

We are a reorganization of the much loved Shakespeare in the Park that had its beginnings in Woodland Park 40 years ago!

Now we need YOUR help. Rising costs, along with temperamental weather conditions during the last few summers have put our 2014 season in jeopardy.

We have embarked on an aggressive fundraising campaign with an ultimate goal of $50,000.00. Our aim is to reach out to our wonderful, artistically inclined community, our city government, local corporations and business, and most of all, our loyal and unsurpassed audiences.

We have exciting changes and a TERRIFIC season planned for next summer.

SummerFest 2014 is moving to a new venue! We are pleased to announce a new home and a new season line-up! SummerFest 2014 will be reborn in the beautiful Moondance Amphitheatre in Beaumont Circle. The facility promises the same magic of theatre under the stars with the added benefit and luxuries of a permanent outdoor facility, lots of parking, artist's changing rooms, tiered seating, restrooms and opportunities for food vendors and of course the traditional blanket seating.

Our 2014 Season brings the return of Shakespeare with the enchanting romantic comedy Twelfth Night ("If music be the food of love, play on...."). And will conclude with the deliciously dark musical comedy Little Shop of Horrors ("Feed me!").

To make all of these exciting announcements a reality we need to overcome a few obstacles.

This is more than possible with your generous support!

Please help keep outdoor theatre in Lexington ALIVE!

Risks and challenges
As always, the major challenge for SummerFest is weather cooperation. Having to cancel a production is not only disappointing for the artists and audience, but takes a bite out of the budgeted sales. But with a 40 year history, and recognized as a local theatre tradition, we are confident, with your support, we shall continue to survive, come rain or shine!
