Heres another review by Stourbridge Wargaming - https://stourbridgewargames.wordpress.com/2019/04/22/modblokz-kickstart-it/
All of the parts come as either a Single or a Double. The Single pieces fit on one 3 inch cube whereas for the doubles you would need to use either two cubes or one of the Double cubes.
Delivery will be worked out and charged after the kickstarter has ended so that we can get the best rates for everyone involved. However as it is all UK based we estimate for the smaller sets to be around £5 and the largest sets £10.
Risks and challenges
This is a revised attempt of our original kickstarter, so there are bound to be some challenges. We have learnt from our initial attempt, and are confident in our new plan to cover any unforeseen issues. We want to be completely transparent with our community and backers - so we will be responding to any questions as openly and quickly as possible.
So, in the spirit of this, we want to address all of the risks we can foresee:
-Defects in manufacture - None to Low Risk
As we plan to manufacture in-house we can ensure our high standards of quality are met. We have already tested our intended resin to ensure that painting our product will not be an issue. This can be a big fear of this type of product. - We have this covered
-Unforeseen Expenses - Low Risk
Although members of our team already have experience in manufacturing products and fulfilling orders, this would be the first time we will be producing a new product line in this scale. Even though we are certain we have calculated all of our costs, we have accounted for unforeseen additional expenditures in our target.
- Delay in Delivery - Medium Risk
As both of us are currently in full-time employment, we will be mostly completing this project in our spare time. We are passionate about our goal and are determined to see it all the way through, which is why we have allocated over a year for manufacture. That being said there is a risk we could be a victim of our own success. As we pass our target, additional funds will be used to purchase more equipment to keep up with the demand. However, there is a limited number of man-hours we would have available to manufacture the parts, unless we reach a much higher final total, in which case we can work on the goal full time.
As some of you maybe aware this is our second attempt at launching this product, however there is a sizeable difference in our goal. Last time we were going for an all or nothing campaign to get us fully established all in one neat package. This didn't work and we are now looking at a revised plan to get us out on the market small scale, then ramp it up at a later date. In order to achieve this a few minor things have changed.
Firstly we will be using high quality FDM instead of SLA prints for the pieces to make the moulds, as we have already been using these machines for our prototyping and it drastically reduces initial setup cost with only a minimal drop in quality.
Next the physical parts will be shipped within the UK ONLY, in plain boxes initially to make postage more affordable for all involved.
After a lengthy debate with a few different clubs, we came to the conclusion that the magnets will be supplied with the sets, however you will have to glue them in place yourself. We will be painting one side of them to help identify polarity. This decision wasn't only to reduce the goal and build time, but also some members of clubs said it was a shame they couldn't match the polarity to some of their fortification weapons enabling them to add some personalised firepower to their builds.
Lastly, we will be releasing a smaller selection of the parts we had initially planned. This isn't to say that they won't be used further down the line, but with a smaller selection to start with means less moulds to create, and thus a lower target.
If we beat the target, more parts will become available through stretch goals, however, our goal is to get the future of tabletop scenery out there and available as soon as possible to everyone.
