A prototype is a preliminary model of something. Projects that offer physical products need to show backers documentation of a working prototype. This gallery features photos, videos, and other visual documentation that will give backers a sense of what’s been accomplished so far and what’s left to do. Though the development process can vary for each project, these are the stages we typically see:
Proof of Concept
Explorations that test ideas and functionality.
Demonstrates the functionality of the final product, but looks different.
Looks like the final product, but is not functional.
Appearance and function match the final product, but is made with different manufacturing methods.

The Dogwarmer is the world's first mobile and heated dog blanket. It's an innovation. The infrared heating elements produce energy-saving, pleasant and healthy heat. The Dogwarmer is very light, easy to carry and therefore the perfect companion for your dog. The dog blanket can be used anywhere. Not matter if you are outdoors or at home.
The Dogwarmer is gray in color and available in two different sizes.
Only high quality and durable materials (100% polyester) were used for the Dogwarmer. The clue is it’s modern technology. There are insulated cables that lead inside the blanket to two heating elements.
In one edge you can find the insulated bag which contains the powerful battery and the control switch. In here they are protected, so your dog will not be able to "nibble" these components. Furthermore, there are three different heat settings that can be set via a control switch.
The Dogwarmer reaches it’s operating temperature In less than a minute. And depending on the selected heat level it may provide between four and six hours of heat. The heat itself is a healthy one as it uses infrared technology, which is emitted upwards.
The lower surface of the Dogwarmer is waterproof and thus resistant to any kind of moisture.
Each Dogwarmer is light and handy. They are easy to roll up and easy to store. In addition, the Dogwarmer can be washed by hand.

The heat in the Dogwarmer is made by infrared technology. This technology is very comfortable and is used as well for certain heat therapies (for instance for rheumatism, osteoarthritis and joint changes). The relaxing effect of the infrared heat increases in general your well-being, relaxes the muscles, promotes various healing processes and bring your cardiovascular system in motion. In the animal world, infrared heat is used for instance on the farm, in the zoo, in the rearing of juveniles (farm animals and pets) and for other treatment purposes. Infrared heat has been proven to show a very positive effect on animals. The area with which our heating pads work corresponds exactly to the human body, referring to radiation in the range of 7μm to 15μm. This is the heat which we or our animals produce by ourselves. The invisible light, also known as far-infrared or FIR, has a variety of positive effects on the vitality of our four-legged friends
We are Silke and Oli and we simply love nature. We have been passionate outdoor friends with a camper for many years. Therefore, we try as often and as long as possible to enjoy our time outside and in nature. And of course as long as the weather and the outside temperature permit. Though everybody knows that when it gets cooler outside it is not anymore so pleasant. And literally on every cold day, we asked ourselves: "How can we extend the time we spend outside and enjoy it for longer?". This is the question that brought a comparison with a heated car seat to our minds. Why isn’t there a heated seat which we can take outdoors? And our brand “Outchair” war born with this simple idea. We developed seat covers with heating pads and chairs that can be used outdoors. Always applying a healthy infrared technology.
One day one of our clients asked if we could also make a heated blanket for dogs. To be honest, the idea sounded pretty good. Even our best friend would love to lay down and rest on a warm and cuddly spot while we are outside. Silke went straight to work, sat down at the sewing machine and sewed the world's first mobile heated dog blanket. The Dogwarmer was born!
In order to get started, we decided to promote the Dogwarmer in a test phase on our website. We took the prototype as well to various trade fairs in order to obtain direct feedback from a potential customer. The demand was huge and Silke could not keep up with sewing. It was clear to us, that the Dogwarmer has to be a strong part of our portfolio and that we have to start with an improved production.
As “Outchair” is a young and self-financed start-up company, we are looking for the appropriate capital in order to get the production of the Dogwarmer started. For this great plan, we will need your financial support. Help us to produce more Dogwarmers so we can provide our four-legged friends as fast as possible with a warm and cozy spot.
Risks and challenges
One big challenge is a wide market placement of the Dogwarmer. We want to make it accessible to all dog owners. As a young team, we need active support and appropriate capital investment. The risk represents the initially small number of units, that we want to increase quickly. Production will depend on its market acceptance and thus on the future of the Dogwarmer.
