Thank you so much to everyone who has helped us reach our target. We still have some things we'd absolutely love to add to the project, so if you get involved now, your money will be put to good use (and there'll be some added rewards for all backers).
STRETCH GOAL 1 - REACHED!
With an extra £600 (total: £5350) - We'd be able to hire head mics, as opposed to handhelds for the album launch, so that the cast would be able to move around and give a better idea of the show.
STRETCH GOAL 2 - REACHED!
With an extra £1000 (total: £5750) - We'd also be able to invest in some lighting, staging and sound design for the album launch, to make it an even more epic event. Plus - we'll post all backers past and future a signed cast photo.
STRETCH GOAL 3
With an extra £2,000 (total: £6750) - We'd be able to do all of the above as well as pay for some much needed PR to push the album out there - this will really increase the chances of the show being picked up. Plus - we'll post all backers past and future a signed cast photo and Muted pin-badge.
With your help we will present the original cast recordings of the songs from 'Muted' - a brand new British Pop-Rock musical written by Tim Prottey-Jones, Sarah Henley and Tori Allen-Martin.
Muted is an edgy, fast paced, sexy and raw new show, about grief, guilt, self-discovery, forgiveness, and that thing we just can’t do without; love.
Why a Cast Album and Not a Full Production?
Well, firstly, a full production of a musical couldn't be achieved for this little money - we'd be talking ten times as much at least!
Secondly, we're hoping to generate interest and buzz from producers and directors who'd like to take the show to the next level - and to do that they want to hear proper recordings of the music and see what kind of a following we've got. That's where the album comes in! We see it as an achievable and crucial stepping stone to bigger things, whilst being something amazing in itself.
The Muted album brings you an all star cast!
Featured artists include Tori Allen-Martin who appears on Idris Elba's 'mi Mandela' album (alongside Maverick Sabre) and leading lady Ashleigh Gray who recently wrapped up the UK tour of Wicked in which she played 'Elphaba'.
Additionally we've signed up Steven Webb, fresh from the National Theatre and Andy Coxon fresh out of Beautiful in town.
Finally we have the wonderful Greg Oliver who is smashing the UK music scene at the moment and our heart-throb, Liam Doyle, who is fresh off the world tour of Ghost.
This project has a crack team of creatives with Tim Prottey-Jones on the music, Tori Allen-Martin on the lyrics and Sarah Henley on the book.
Between them they have been nominated for multiple awards, written on incredible albums, nearly been Jesus on an ITV show and drunk a considerable amount of Jagerbombs!
The Story So Far
An earlier draft of Muted, entitled 'After the Turn', previewed at The Courtyard Theatre in 2010 where it was dubbed as "the British Rent" by Mark Shenton for The Stage, and "a beautiful unique production" by Backstage Pass.
After the Turn received a Broadway World nomination for Best Fringe or Regional Musical and a What's On Stage Award nomination for Best New Musical.
It has since been re-written, re-titled and developed with a West End cast ready to share with you on the album and live at the concert launch on the 4th February.
Can I Hear Some Of The Music?
Of course. Visit this soundcloud page (link below) where you can hear previous versions of 'Blame It On Me', 'Everything I Want It To Be' and 'I'll Be With You Always' which are all songs from 'Muted'. As well as examples of other songs Tim and Tori have written together for other projects, such as 'I For One', 'Sunshine' and 'Keep Your Distance', which will give you a good indication of what's to come.
Where Your Money Will Be Spent
In terms of the album for Muted, your funds will go to musicians, studio space, mixing and mastering and distribution costs. A small portion will go into the Album Launch Event on the 4th February so that we can have a live band etc, and an even smaller portion to Kickstarter Fees and delivery of our rewards.
The pie chart looks like this:
We are pulling in as many favours for this album as possible and doing it on the lowest possible budget to maximise the impact of your funds.
However, we've got plenty of ambition and if we get any more than our target on Kickstarter we know what we'd do with it!
With an extra £600 we'd be able to hire head mics, as opposed to hand helds for the album launch, so that the cast would be able to move around and give a better idea of the show.
With an extra £1000, we'd also be able to invest in some lighting, staging and sound design for the album launch, to make it an even more epic event.
With an extra £2,000, we'd be able to do all of the above as well as pay for some much needed PR to push the album out there - this will really increase the chances of the show being picked up.
Risks and challenges
We've got everything lined up and ready to go, and have plenty of experience as a team producing high quality music, releasing it to market and holding events. So...our main risk is not raising the funds and having egg on our faces at the launch!
After the album launch, the risk is artistic - people might hate it, hate us, and our reputations could go down the pan and we might never work again. However, having tested a lot of the material in an earlier version, we're confident that this shouldn't happen...hopefully!
Fingers crossed people will love the album and the concert and invest in taking Muted all the way to Broadway!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
