First Recording Session

Yesterday I spent three and a half hours in Joe Patrych's marvelous Bronx studio, where I recorded three of the six sets of pieces that will be on the recording: Norman Lloyd's Three Scenes from Memory and Five Episodes and Peter Mennin's Five Piano Pieces, a total of about thirty minutes of music. The session went very well, with all the pieces covered in between two to four takes. Today's session should cover both composers' sonatas, with Wednesday reserved for Lloyd's Five Pieces for Dance and touch-up work. I am delighted at the support that this project has inspired. My backers are family, friends, colleagues I work with now, colleagues I worked with years ago, and people I have never met who are enthusiastic about this project. Thank you so much for your contributions. The recording process would be a far different experience without the knowledge that the project has a team of people invested in its outcome!
