Wheely is an application designed to help wheelchair users better navigate the New York City subway system and find accessible places!
What inspired me to create an app around accessibility?
Articles about my story and Wheely:
Next Gen Startups Interview with Anthony and Dustin:
Only 18% of Subway stations have accessible elevators!
Over half a million people in New York City have some kind of Ambulatory Difficulty!
Our Goal: to raise $5,500 to complete the development of Wheely's iOS platform.
Wheely enables wheelchair users to better navigate the New York subway system featuring:
•A custom accessible subway map
•Fully integrated Google Directions the exact elevator GPS locations
•Real time elevator statuses
•Customized neighborhood maps with elevator locations
•Location aware push notifications
Wheely isn't just for wheelchair users.
Stretch Goal: Native Android and Window Phone Development ($10,500)
Stretch Goal: Map with Accessible Places ($25,000)
If we reach $25,000 it will allow us to develop a map with accessible places and events like, restaurants, and restrooms around the 88 accessible stations. We will personally go to each place and verify its accessibility. At Wheely we don't just focus on accessibility we also focus on the establishments food quality, atmosphere, as well as the wait staff! :)

Risks and challenges
Some of the potential setbacks could be :
1. Unexpected expenses due to development costs.
2. Technological bugs that lead to extended deadlines.
The good news is that Wheely is already licensed to use and modify and New York City Metro Transit Authority (MTA) maps. This has been granted by the MTA director of marketing.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
