As my small way to say thank you just for being here, you get an exclusive listen and an intimate look into the project:
Many of you have followed my career over the years and have watched me evolve — from musical theater geek, to singer-songwriter, to a confident performer and musician who wants to bring all of her art together in one, amazing, multi-track, multi-media format:
I will also be personalizing the project with hand-made art to be included in the CD booklet, and given out as rewards to You, my amazing backers, along with music merch.
This project is the follow up to my single and hyper-stylized video for Visual Exchange - an optimistic, upbeat Pop/R&B fusion about that special moment of exchange with a stranger that touches your heart and stays with you.
Kickstarter is all-or-nothing, which means that if we don’t meet our goal, we don’t get anything. I don’t get to make this beautiful and dear album, and you won’t get to have it, or get any of these amazing and personal rewards. So, the bottom line is: we HAVE TO meet the project goal, so that I can get hard to work for you! Personally, I'd prefer for you to think about these Rewards as things that you'd be excited about purchasing anyway, that you are now receiving as a gift & sincere token of my appreciation for your support! Also, to make everything super easy, if you want to swap your Reward for a different Reward of equal value, or combine rewards, just let me know! I will be more than happy to accommodate! Please keep in mind that you can only donate once, so please read the choices for Donations and Rewards carefully, and feel free to ask me any questions!
That said, if we do not meet the project goal, you don't get charged for your pledge.
I'll be working with Speakeasy Sound in Los Angeles as well as The Complex Group in LA. They're young, talented, forward thinking producers, engineers and musicians who are so excited to help me in making this EP come to life!
Lending my vocals to major artists during my session singing days was amazing and rewarding, (see: the demo for Lady GaGa above!) but it wasn't always the challenge that I hoped for.

While the writing, recording and mastering process is happening in Los Angeles, I have traveled over a lot of the World these past 2 years, gathering inspiration and information to make the most optimistic, powerful and unique music possible. During my travels, one of the only things that kept me safe, sane and sunny was Music. With this funding, I'll be able to take chronic pains and turn them into chronic passion, my travels and dreams into positive music to be enjoyed liberally by those earnestly figuring out their own journey and life pursuits. This EP is definitely for those trying to stay positive and powerful while making their way in a World that can often seem daunting and difficult.
Many of these songs will also be turned into attractive music videos (like the one above, released last Winter) so we can reach a wider audience with a positive, valuable message.
To give you an idea of the style, vibe, quality, and feel that's possible, here are some of the videos for music that I've been privileged enough to be a part of for the past 2 years:
I'm a strong believer in do-it-ourselves projects and Kickstarter affords us the opportunity to do just that. You can see my previous work and progression as an artist on my soundcloud, vimeo, facebook or youtube, where I do originals and covers with my band! You can also keep up over on the blog!
I've been privileged enough to do a song (and a half!) with engineers Andrew Maltese and BC Taylor of Speakeasy Sound already, which is how we got a taste for our dream and laid down our budget. We spent 2 days song writing and 3 days recording to bring you a preview of the first song, Wake Up, which we hope to revamp with live musicians and more studio time, to flesh it into a radio ready finished project, along with 4 other tracks of completely eclectic sounds.
The Complex Group, managers of the Youtube Pop Sensation Karmin, are also involved, providing me the opportunity to do some Raw Sessions and use their media prowess and facilities, as well as being kind enough to extend their friendship, support and advice while providing constant musical inspiration for me the last few months. These guys are seriously rad!
Once we get a solid block studio lockout and bring in our talent, combined with the talent of my engineers, this EP has the capacity to take myself, my backers and my fans to places we could otherwise only dream of.
The Dream is actually really simple: challenge myself as a musician and share the positive, dynamic aspects of my life journey with you. By tackling 5 completely different elements, vocals, sounds, styles and sides of myself, my ability to grow as an artist will far surpass what I could do exploring only 1 or 2 (or 3... or 4...). This EP is about coming back to who we truly are and living life fully & with great passion and enthusiasm. It is my own call to myself to "wake up" as an artist, as well as exploring the idea of an awakening throughout each stylized song. We've been having a blast in the studio, working hard and throwing ideas around, building a positive, progressive image of what The "Wake Up" EP will look like. I want this to serve as a personal journey for the listener, and I have a lot of music and art in store to share!
I very much want this to be a Backer driven project, and it's important to me to reach out to those who helped me in fully realizing my true passion. I will be in full art making and song writing mode, and have made all of my rewards for Backers and Funding extremely personal.
Combined with fantastic rewards, watching a song that YOU helped fund get placed somewhere, or positively affect someone's life, or watching me and my talented friends play our hearts out in your home town, you'll have the personal satisfaction of knowing that you helped to make that happen.
The great thing about being an independent artist is that you have the creative freedom to make the music that inspires you most. The difficulty involved in being an independent artist is that you have to fund every project yourself, including all of the marketing and promotion, and it can be very expensive to do. Therefore, all donations to this Kickstarter go to paying my talented live musicians, Studio Time at Speakeasy Sound, Producer fees, Mixing, Mastering, release costs and increasing the quality of what we are trying to achieve.
Of course, since this is Kickstarter, please bear in mind that if we don't reach the total amount of $10,000 by the deadline:
However, I also won't be able to make this project come to life.
So, if you're interested in watching this album come to fruition, and putting lovely sounds in your ears, and seeing my music quickly come to life with unbridled passion, please help in any way you can, and be sure to spread the word to your friends, family, and everyone you know through Facebook, Twitter, Blogs, Emails, Phone Calls, Text Messages, and by Word of Mouth.
I have made donations affordable and my rewards personal! Check them out on the side bar to see what you get for your buck!
Barring a production hold up (someone gets sick, California falls into the ocean, a plague of locusts eat our studio), there is absolutely nothing stopping me from making this album other than being able to pay my very talented friends to help me out!
The release is not yet set in stone, but I hope to accomplish this by the end of October, to be released between November and December. Talk about immediate satisfaction!!
We have the Music, the Musicians, the Studio, the Producers, the artsy mastermind with dreams too big for her britches… now we just need your Support!
I hope you'll support it. I hope you'll ask your friends and family to support it. I hope it will touch you, awaken you, inspire you. Who knows, maybe this will encourage you to go do that thing *you've* always wanted to do! After all, life is short!
