From toy companies like Kidrobot and Super 7, to International events such as the highly sought out and attended museum exhibition MONSTERS AND MISFITS (Japan), and even through high end film and animation projects…the sketchbook will cover several facets of my life as a designer and artist over the past 8 years. This will be the most definitive collection of my black and white, line work, and character designs from any publishing company. The sketchbook will be at least 140 pages, softcover and will also feature a pin-up gallery of toy designs I have accomplished throughout the years.
Fine artist and toy designer Chris Ryniak will be writing the Foreword for MUSE 1 and Internationally recognized fine artist Travis Louie will be writing my Afterword.
This is the first time I am looking to the public to help fund a project, in an effort to help start connecting our fans directly to Circus Posterus's creative process. I realized a long time ago that our amazing fans love to help in every way possible, (which is beyond generous) and up until recently, I wasn’t sure how that could work! The solution is Kickstarter. I can’t imagine anything more rewarding than helping creators directly, and Kickstarter celebrates this more than any other format. I personally have helped fund some amazing Kickstarter projects, and I have to say that I am hooked.
You helping fund this project would enable me to do the following: A project in this format allows me to push and design at a level that equals 100% of my vision as the artist who created the content/art and present this body of work in a presentation that matches the content…my pure 100% unadulterated vision. Secondly, it allows me a buffer and financial padding to actually take the time from other revenue producing projects, so I can focus entirely on nothing else for a short time while putting this book together and preparing the content. Thirdly, it allows me to directly pay for the printing of this project as well as all the other details, such as help with some of the incentives for you, etc. Lastly… the goal of this first project is to set up the first of many Circus Posterus’ artist sketchbooks releases (from CP members through guest artists).
Risks and challenges
Regarding the risks and challenges for this particular project... I believe they are extremely minimal. The printer for the book has been secured and awaits the final files from me to move forward into actual production. Professionally speaking, I have a very long successful history in setting up published projects as well as seeing them through to sales and marketing. All other components such as incentives for pledges, etc. are already what I do at my company daily. Resin figures, limited edition prints, postcard sets, etc. are normal products that Circus Posterus rolls out consistently and have for years. It is possible that anything can or may happen, but between me and my crew, getting back on track happens instantly. Regarding any risks with resources, we have many fall-back options if something should happen or if setbacks occur.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
