We’re rethinking the commute, one bicycle at a time. Technology impacts our lives in countless ways. Yet we ride the same, archaic bicycles to and from work every day, disconnected from our environment and ourselves. It’s time to integrate the most influential technology into the bicycle. You’re connected, why shouldn’t your bike be?
Valour is the ultimate combination of safety, connectivity, design, and simplicity. It introduces the practical integration of technology into the daily commute.
Valour is designed with safety in mind. Unique to the industry, Valour incorporates integrated technology for advanced personal safety. Valour’s turn-by-turn navigation keeps your eyes on the road and your hands on the bar. It uses low energy bluetooth to connect to your smart phone for directions. LED indicators signal as you approach your next turn.
Integrated haptic feedback in the handlebar grips alert you by vibrating of any object in your blind spot ensuring your safety so you can ride comfortably.
On-board sensors measure your calories burned, distance traveled, speed, best times, and much more. Stay fit and feel great by turning your everyday commute into a fitness ride.
Sync your mobile device with your bike before or after the ride to track your progress.
At launch, we will have an Android, iPhone and Pebble app.
We think riding a bike should be fun, not painful. We strive to remove discomfort from the commute and replace stress with delight.
Engineered for comfort, the Valour design encourages a more comfortable riding position. Our unique ergonomic design relieves pressure on your back, spine, and buttocks, while providing optimal power transfer and an unmatched comfort level. The shoulders, back of the neck, and hands take a greater share in supporting the load, resulting in a more versatile, active riding style.
We are equipped with Ergon for ergonomic saddle, pedals and grips.
Smart Carbon Fibre Manufacturing
Valour is constructed with carbon fibre and the internal tube design is inspired by nature. Using our carbon fibre manufacturing technology, each bike is individually molded as a unibody frame. Valour’s internal wall structure is inspired by the same principles that strengthen our bones allowing it to withstand extreme three-dimensional stress. Unibody molding guarantees complete structural strength and production ease, ensuring a bike that’s as reliable as it is affordable. Valour’s strength is matched only by its weight. At a mere ~16lbs, the Valour is light enough to de-stress any tricky commute.
Charge as you ride, Valour has a front wheel dynamo hub that charges all the electronics. Valour only needs an hour long bike ride to fully charge. For winter storage, Valour goes into deep sleep mode.
Vanhawks for all.
Commuters are the heartbeat of cities. Valour technology is designed as a mesh network that will connect the Valour community and gather real-time information on setbacks like potholes, closed roads, and blocked lanes. Simply put, more riders means smarter, safer routes.

Team behind Vanhawks
Sohaib and Adil have poured their hearts into designing, engineering, and testing Valour. Ali and Niv worked tirelessly to successfully integrate the technology into the bike. The team is part of FounderFuel Accelerator program out of Montreal in Canada. With your help, we can make Valour the bike of the future, and change the urban commute forever.
The Vanhawks Team
Risks and challenges
The Vanhawks Valour design has been finalized, and the initial prototype has been built. Molding and tooling is ready for the first batch. Adil has been working in composite engineering for last 12 years. Sohaib has worked in ergonomic design for 3 years, and both have been through the designs with a keen eye to make sure the best is brought to you.
Niv and Ali are hard at work to connect the sensors on the bike. Both use their computer and engineering backgrounds to bring the project to reality.
Some risks and challenges might come our way when we start our first large-scale production of Vanhawks Valour, and we want to be upfront about that. Kickstarter projects come with some degree of risk inherent in product development. Our backers invest in us, so we want to do everything we can to minimize the risks involved.
We have partners in China, Germany and Pakistan for manufacturing. We have finalized our molding designs, and partnered with best bike manufacturers in China to make sure we have things in place once we go to full production. This also means that we've already spent a couple of months collaborating with factories and suppliers during the prototyping phase. Sohaib and Adil have been in Shenzhen to make sure that we have the availability of our electronic components once we go in to production.
Once all the parts are manufactured and pass QC checks, they will be shipped to Vanhawks headquarters in Toronto, where the bike will be assembled. Operational logistics might delay the assembly time of the bike. No need to worry because Adil and our partners have experience with shipping, import/export, and all things within.
In all matters we will keep lines of communication with our backers open, and update you about any developments.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
