With the vision to be one of the few woman-owned and run bars in the nation, we – Roselma, Christine, and Patricia, aka Red Capiz Partners (RCP) – bring you our first bar: GENEVER, which was set into motion three years ago while sipping mimosas on New Year's Day 2013.
Today, we need your help to raise at least $30,000. These funds will be used primarily for Genever’s initial inventory, furniture and supplies.
We hope Genever will add to the economic development of Historic Filipinotown, a most promising neighborhood in Los Angeles. Signs of change are already apparent with 3 new apartment buildings under way as developers welcome renters who can no longer afford the nearby saturated areas of Downtown Los Angeles, Echo Park, and Silver Lake.
Our motivation is simple: we love to enjoy a cocktail for fun, stress-relief, celebration, or just because. . . and we want to share this spirit of life with all who enter through our doors.
What is Genever?
Genever is, a friendly little bar lounge, located in Los Angeles’ Historic Filipinotown. Inspired by world travels and driven by local bounty, Genever will serve up natural, fresh libations. We will bring in local quality natural ingredients to make for all our garnishes and mixers, made in-house. The Genever menu will be simple, focused, and bright. In stock, some of the best examples of spirits will be offered, as well as a variety of beer and wine. Genever will be open for thirsty visits in the evening and weekends.

- Hours – Mon-Fri: 5pm – 2am || Sat-Sun: 11am – 2am

Who We Are
Roselma Samala, Christine Sumiller, and Patricia Perez, friends and business partners who met while attending UCLA. We've been working on Genever for a few years, researching, planning and putting the pieces together.
Techie by day and restauranteur by night, Patricia brings a strong background in hospitality and restaurant management, having worked her way up through two successful Culver City and Redondo Beach restaurants. Roselma, non-profit maven and philanthropy consultant, has solid fiscal management experience, having helped fund non-profits and community organizations. A true finance ace and event planning star, Christine offers her robust financial advising expertise, having steered people to plan and save for their futures.
Our Campaign & Budget
We're opening Genever on a humble budget, building the place ourselves with the help of family, friends and the community. We're launching this campaign to help complete our vision of what Genever should be and to generate momentum in the lead up to our grand opening.
Again, with your support, we're aiming to raise at least $30,000 to get us to the next level! This money will go a long way in helping to complete the details that will make Genever special; everything from building our place from the ground up, to getting the right bar equipment and proper cocktail glassware.

Risks and challenges
With a high turnover rate in the hospitality industry, several risks and challenges exist when opening the bar. Bars compete with other venues that offer alcoholic drinks or entertainment as well as with the home consumption of alcohol. Genever's competitive edge is its cocktail menu, the environment, and the staff.
