Please help make our Christmas Concerts Free by donating, buying tickets or CD's, or purchasing one of other wonderful incentives to the right!!!!!
December 17th & 18th, 2011
Last year, we gave away some tickets to our Holiday Concerts, and were absolutely stunned by the notes and letters of gratitude we received from the audience. This year we thought, "Wouldn't it be great if we could make our entire holiday concerts free?" So, here we are!(check out the awesome incentives to the right!)
How do we do help make this happen?
You can help make this happen by simply donating to the cause, OR by pledging for the incentive levels here on the right. For every pledged, we'll set one aside for someone in need. If we reach our fundraising goal of $3,000.00 both concerts will be absolutely free, and those who reserved their tickets here will get reserved seating! If we receive more than that, it will go towards making next year's concerts free, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the... Do I have to buy tickets? No. You can just click on a link, and donate any amount you would like.
This year's concerts include Christmas favorites old and new, from carols based on prehistoric chants and old familiar tunes, to the world premier of Edwin Wendler's new piece arranged specifically for these concerts, 'Ya mei haChanukkah'. You'll also hear local composer Eric Banks' 'To Hear the Angels Sing", and Chris McCafferty's special twist on 'Carol of the Bells'.
This year a new tradition starts - the audience Sing-a-Long with the pipe organs at both locations! In Lagerquist Hall you'll find the amazing Gottfried and Mary Fuchs Organ, a magnificent creation with hand carved wood facades and 16' pipes! On Mercer Island you'll find an organ maintained by Illumni's own Rene Marceau & Resident Conductor, Sean M. Haley or Marceau Organ Builders.
Sean is the one who maintains the organ at Emmanuel, and he "grew up" on the organ at PLU, where he studied organ performance. You will rarely hear an organist as knowledgeable about the instruments he is playing!
Costume Contest & Santa
This year, we'll have a costume contest, with prizes, for the most creative holiday outfits! We'll also have a very special appearance by Santa! If your pledge includes a family pass, you can have a private meet & greet with him before the concert. If you pledge at other levels, you can also find him at the lobby during intermission and after the concert for photos and more!
Thank you for all you do to support us & to support our community. Pleaser remember to like us on Facebook & Twitter! https://www.facebook.com/illumnimenschorale

The evening will also include a special appearance by Santa Claus!
Yes! He's all confirmed and booked! Santa will be available for pictures during intermission and after the concert - bring your cameras! For those purchasing the Family Pass Packages - Santa will reward you with your own private time with him!
Illumni Men’s Chorale is dedicated to bringing music to those who might not otherwise have an opportunity to be exposed to classical music. We focus particularly on low-income, those in need, and our returned troops.
The group was founded in November 2009 by Chris McCafferty, andcan be best described as a bunch of guys who just like to sing! Membership is made up of everything from serious choral hobbyists, to full time professional musicians. The group includes several instrumentalists, teachers, and church musicians. Ages in the group range from 19 to 66, and we are open to all who wish to audition.
Our unofficial motto is "Just Sing!" We believe that so many people get tied up in the technicalities of the art and administration, that they forget to walk on stage and, "Just Sing!". We strive to do this by having everything ready in advance, and having our skills up to 'snuff so that when it comes to concert time, we can "Just Sing!"
Engaging our audience is very important to us. We do this by performing innovative concerts, and asking our audience to become part of them. We continuously pursue new songs and arrangements. We hope to present some of the most beautiful classical music ever written, yet at the same time, we are never afraid to bust out a classical arrangement of some Brittney Spears, or sing like the 'Chipmunks' in the 'Christmas Song' if it helps bring our audience along for the ride!
The Men of Illumni are dedicated to our community and have consistently offered programs to help members of our community who may not otherwise by exposed to this type of music the chance to see our concerts. These programs have included free tickets for low income families & those in need, and free tickets for members of our Armed Services and their families.
The Illumni Music Foundation is a licensed Domestic Nonprofit Corporation in the State of Washington, and is currently filing for Federal 501c3 not- for-profit status.
Illumni's members represent a wide swath of the Northwest, ranging from Poulsbo to Olympia, Seattle, Tacoma, Puyallup, Parkland and Bellingham.

We share all of our files electronically, and only print music and other items on an as-needed basis, so there is as little waste as possible. We primarily do our advertising through online resources, and electronic means, to keep our actual printed advertisements and waste to the smallest size possible.
On Fiscal Responsibility
Illumni tries to make every dollar count. By using resources like the Choral Public Domain Library, we are able to produce much of our music without cost. We also have 6 members of the group who have, or are composing new pieces for Illumni to perform. As mentioned in On Environmental Commitment, we do as much of our advertising online as possible, so there is no needless waste. Our recordings are made at Jack Straw Productions, a non-for-profit recording studio that offers excellent prices to it's members. Illumni also strongly believes in collaboration with other artists. Sometimes the things we can offer each other as artists are much more valuable than the fiscal equivalent.
On Community/Audience Outreach
No one will ever be turned away at the door to Concert Illumni hosts, as long as there are still seats. We believe audience members who are willing to support us should be able to attend, regardless of their ability to pay. We appreciate the support of our paying audience members and donors, and couldn't do it without you! Thank You!
While we are a men’s choir, we strive to feature female guest artists, and have yet to produce a concert without one! Guests Artists have included: Soprano Jennifer Ceresa of Seattle Opera & the Seattle Choral Company, Cora Rueter Foster of the Trans Siberian Orchestra, Harpist Tealah Hill of the Tacoma Symphony, Melanie Hariss - our first Associate Conductor, HERmonic, and the award winning local LiveWire Quartet! We thank these talented ladies for being part of our shows.
We also have a wonderful administrative backbone made up of Marina (Palm) Juarez, Emily Murer, Kathy Demarree, and Christine McCafferty. That's a lot of Girl Power!
You can pledge and choose not to accept the incentives, OR you can order a CD, dedicate a song to a loved one, become an official sponsor of the program.... it's up to you!
