About this project
Risks and challenges
The challenges we now face are twofold. The first is that one of our primary backers has disappeared. This investment was the final share and with it she took the start-up capital we were relying on for our first six months of operation. This has led to a delay of our grand opening, and the loss of the ever-profitable summer foot traffic. Nevertheless, our location near the Northwestern University campus has us just as excited to feed the many hungry students and families throughout the metropolitan area.

Our second issue is that the village unexpectedly did not enforcement of an adopted building code. This ordinance now limits our dine-in seating to less than the occupancy we had been originally relying upon. In order to make up for the smaller capacity, we have prepared a second cafe menu of items specially designed to allow faster turn over of our tables.
Soul Surfing is ready! Our staff is trained and enthusiastically awaits our opening; our exciting venue is ready to welcome a hungry community; and we have completed all the requirements to open our doors. Best of all, thanks to our loyal investors, everything needed to accomplish these goals has been paid for in full - we are now simply looking to fill the operational void left by our “Houdini”.
So create a little magic and with your help allow us to begin serving up the best artisan pizza Chicago will ever see.
