F*** Your Hair is a short form documentary about an upstart Latin American immigrant-owned craft brewery that stood up to Donald Trump and risked nearly everything in the process.
Join Andres Araya and Mila Ramirez, the husband and wife duo behind 5 Rabbit, as they tell the whole story behind “Trump’s Golden Ale” and their “Chinga Tu Pelo” protest beer for the very first time!

In 2014, Andres Araya and Mila Ramirez, Latin American immigrant owners of 5 Rabbit Cerveceria, were approached by the Food and Beverage Manager of the 5-star Trump International Hotel & Tower in Chicago’s glamorous River North neighborhood to brew a house beer. A huge opportunity for the fledgling brewery, the contract was a cornerstone of 5 Rabbit’s ability to expand their reach and brew the kinds of exotic, Latin-inspired beers they were founded upon.
The kegs weren't flowing long before Donald Trump announced he was running for President and referred to Mexican immigrants as “rapists,” and accused them of “bringing drugs [and] crime."

Andres was troubled by these comments and faced a moral dilemma: how could he profit off the back of such hate? Inaction would be tantamount to support, but would dumping Trump and effectively cutting off a vital financial lifeline for his young brewery be worse?

Main Characters
It's said that opposites attract. For living proof, look no further than Andres Araya and Milagros ‘Mila’ Ramirez, the powerful husband and wife duo behind 5 Rabbit Cerveceria. Andres is originally from Costa Rica and Mila from Peru, but they've lived all over Latin America and most recently moved back to the States by way of Mexico. In 2011 they opened 5 Rabbit Cerveceria - the first Latin-inspired brewery in the United States.
Andres is soft-spoken and reserved. Mila is fiery and makes no apologies. This juxtaposition of personalities is a large part of what makes 5 Rabbit (and perhaps their marriage) so successful.
When Trump said, “[Mexico is] not sending their best,” was he talking about these two?

Why this story? Why Now?
For the first time Andres and Mila tell the shocking, true story of the beer that became an icon of a movement, a symbol of the resistance, and just like, a really tasty beverage.
When 5 Rabbit, a fledgling craft brewery, made the intrepid decision to stop doing business with the Trump International Hotel and Tower in Chicago it was no small act. They weren’t motivated by talking heads or Twitter mobs – to them, it was personal. In lieu of profit, they stuck by their moral convictions and risked nearly everything in the process.
Although the fact that 5 Rabbit “dumped Trump” was reported on at the time, many of the events surrounding Trump’s Golden Ale and 5 Rabbit’s Chinga Tu Pelo protest beer remains untold (but man is it a good story). Now that the dust has settled, Andres and team are ready to tell the world what really happened over those harrowing days in June, 2015.
The Trump Administration’s latest plans to further limit legal immigration has only fueled the need for this story to be told, in full, right now. It’s a story that lacks precedent, but perhaps for that very reason, provides tremendous hope to those who are so often unjustly used as scapegoats.

Riesgos y desafíos
As with all independent filmmaking there are inherent risks: the film could be delivered late, over budget, and will involve far too many characters staring pensively at the sunset as their last hand-rolled cigarette burns low between their fingers.
The good news is we've already completed principal photography and the editing process... and we did it all while drinking delicious 5 Rabbit beer.
Your contribution will be immediately applied to the finishing of the film.
