About this project
Made in New York begins when a recent college graduate, Charles Cinders, moves to New York City after his father dies. Amid the turmoil he discovers that his mother, whom he thought was dead, is in fact living in Manhattan. He sets out on a journey to find his mother and uncover the truth behind his fractured life.
With a weak job market and the financial pressure of living in New York City, Chuck finds work as a bike messenger when its his only option. For the bike messenger, encountering the diversity of the city is in the nature of a day's work. This molds Chuck into a man he never thought he would be as he encounters culture, class, and ideals foreign to him.
The concept for the series came from a desire to showcase the profound effect New York City has on youthful ambition and identity. Bike couriers, ubiquitous in New York are a storied presence among the high rises, projects and glamour of the city. We wanted to develop a character who faces difficult choices in a city with crushing influences that affect his decisions concerning career, love, and family.
Risks and challenges
Zach and Dan have completed the outline for season one of Made in New York. Principal actors have been cast and drafts of the first three episodes have been written.
For the duration of the Kickstarter, we'll continue to cast the rest of the actors for the series. We'll also be securing locations for filming, while writing the rest of the season and keeping our goal budget firmly in mind.
The goal budget of $18,000 may seem high. But because the project is akin in scope to making a feature film, this budget is necessary to produce the season in its entirety.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
