Heli Harbor is a unique Water Operations Based Helipad that combines a helicopter flight and a boating experience. Heli Harbor can travel the Intracoastal Waterway enabling a helicopter to land safely almost anywhere along the waterway.
This project will bring the aviation experience to the people much like "Barnstorming" back in the old days. We want to expose younger generations to the experience of flight! Help us to reach our goal by participating in funding our project.
Follow below starting with the Heli Harbor Specifications, Renderings, Timeline of Production, Funding Requirements and our Rewards. If you have questions please do not hesitate to contact us. We welcome your comments!
The Heli Harbor Deck - has been configured with clearances for various types of aircraft up to S76 Class Helicopter.
We have contracted a commercial boat builder to add the helipad options to their currently produced commercial passenger catamaran. Their current vessel is 72 ft in length and can more than accommodate the helipad and its supporting requirements which will include a fuel supply for the helicopter and reducing the passenger carrying area from 149 passengers to twenty passengers.
By selecting and adding options to an already produced and approved vessel we will eliminate the need of prototyping or designing an all new vessel. This will save both time in production and additional money otherwise spent starting from scratch.
With the concept renderings complete and a basic boat selected the next step will be to produce all the drawings, electrical, plumbing, machinery etc. that incorporate the helipad options to the basic boat. This should take about three months. Once accepted the construction should take about nine months.
The timeline below is our best realistic estimate of the process.
Where does all the money go? Below are the initial estimates.
A note about the rewards. All of the rewards except the use of the vessel are something that we currently offer and are discounted to a great value. Those will be available immediately after successful funding so you wont have to wait until the vessel is completed. You will however have to travel here in order to take the helicopter ride, pilot training or charter service. You may use at anytime or give as a gift for someone else to use. If your interested in helicopter flight training, helicopter charters, or sight seeing You will find something in the rewards that is right for you.
Palm Beach Helicopters has a dedicated, enthusiastic and hard working team, each has their own action plan and is an integral part in this project, with your help we will bring this concept to fruition. We are greatly looking forward to you joining our team and welcome your comments and participation through this exciting endeavor.
We believe the Heli Harbor will touch the hearts and souls of younger generations and compel them to believe that anything is possible. Our hope is that bringing this life experience to those not necessarily exposed to the aviation or marine industries could positively influence their future, either as a career path or motivate them to set high and rewarding life goals.
Thank you for taking time to review our project.
Risks and challenges
Properly integrating the helipad components to the vessel taking into account various regulatory bodies and issues. This includes the pad for helicopter landing, and storage and dispensing of on board aviation fuels.
A naval architect has been involved from the beginning. First with the concept renderings as pictured and now detail plans must be done to incorporate all of the various regulatory rules to address vessel safety. We also plan on incorporating new technology for fire safety with a self extinguishing helipad.
Local landing and zoning regulations.
In most cases, local landing regulations will not apply as operations on the federal waterways are not restricted by some of these local regulations.
It is in the news all the time. People who live close to a landing area or airport have issues with noise. The solution is often asking to move the airport.
Well we do just that. We move the airport, out to open water away from potential conflicts. In fact the "airport" is continuously on the move so as to create less impact on any one area.
Changes in Federal Law that impact the operation.
Federal Law is not easily changed. When a proposed change is suggested there is usually ample time for the stakeholders to weigh in on the proposed change and modify their operations to adapt to the change.
Changes in Local Laws that impact the operation:
Local laws can be changed at a faster pace so it will be important to operate in a manner that is friendly and respectful to the local communities.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
