Evergreen Girls evolved out of two friends’ love for a good trail, a belly laugh and the sobering feeling you get from standing in front of a wide open vista.
We went into the forest and we saw its wonders. We brought that feeling of enlightenment home with us, into our workplaces and throughout the greater community. Evergreen Girls wants everyone to experience that. Here’s that summed up nice and tidy:
We use the vastness of nature to open the minds of girls and women to a brighter future through community and conservancy.
We are creating original content to build a different kind of network. We envision a community of women empowered by each other and lessons learned on the trail.
Our mission isn’t possible without content that engages, enlightens and informs. From recipes, developed by our resident “food scientist”, to trail-tested gear reviews, to in-depth travel guides with what you need to do on your next big adventure, we are pulling from a deep pool of resources to keep you checking in every day. We'll also be compiling, and elaborating on, important environmental and women’s issues.
Once a month, we'll be featuring an in-depth interview with a female trailblazer inspired by nature. These are real women, who are living their best lives and have come a long way to do so - they're women we can all learn from. From starting their own businesses to performing at the top of their field, these women have gotten where they are in part because of their relationship with nature. We're talking to the experts and the beginners. They're letting US write their stories for YOU to benefit from and become inspired by - in both the form of an article and a podcast!
We'll be supporting female makers by selling their products on our website. We're talking stained glass, jewelry, adventure gear and more – all inspired by the outdoors. It’s amazing what our Evergreen creators are making - and this Kickstarter gives you the first chance to get your hands on some of it!
Very soon, we plan on meeting our community members through group hikes and workshops.
One day, we will offer trips to girls and women, ages 11 to 23. Out in nature, we hope to help women create a community of strong females to surround themselves with – one that will last, long after the dirt path ends. We want to instill a love of nature and a confidence to pursue it in our younger Evergreen Girls. We want the women on our trips to walk away with a sense of clarity. Using nature to test our limits, we want our participants to get perspective on their sense of self and take the skills they’ve honed to succeed in any environment.
Although the outdoors should be available to everyone, we aren’t naive enough to believe that it really is. We were (and are!) thankful we could afford the gas it took to get to the trail, the shoes it cost to hike comfortably and a tent if we wanted to stay the night. Not only that, but at a young age, we had adults in our lives who nurtured our senses of adventure and introduced us to nature so our confidence there could grow without limits long into adulthood.
Grace and Katie believe that all women and girls, no matter where they come from, should be included in the world of the great outdoors. One of the milestones we’re most excited about is being able to offer scholarships to girls who just don’t have the means or background to get involved. We want to help give them a leg up on the trail and in life.
By supporting our project, you're not just getting our shop going, but you're laying the foundation for making our dreams of including these women possible.
Risks and challenges
Sending out the calendars are a top priority, obviously, so you can enjoy the January painting for as long as possible. We'll be submitting our orders for everything as soon as the campaign ends!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
