About this project
Thank you Kickstarter backers for making Evolution a huge success! We couldn't have done it with you. If you missed the Kickstarter and would still like to get a copy of Evolution with the stretch goals you can pre-order your copy on the North Star Games website.
Evolution is a board game that will retail for $55. If you purchase it through Kickstarter, you can save money and also get the game a month or two before it's available in stores. It plays in 60 minutes for 2-6 players ages 10 and up.
In Evolution, players create and adapt their own species in a dynamic ecosystem of limited resources and hungry predators. Increase your species’ Body Size and Population and give them traits to ensure their survival. Traits like Hard Shell and Horns will protect your species from Carnivores, while a Long Neck will help your species get food that others cannot reach. Gather your friends and family around the table and see who will survive, who will thrive, and who will become someone else’s lunch.
You can learn more about the game on the BoardGameGeek.com:

Each player starts with one species. At the beginning of each round, players draw 3 cards plus one for each species they have. Each card is an evolutionary trait that can be added to a species. Then each player plays one card into the center. The number on these cards represents how much food will be available when it comes time to eat.
Players then play cards to evolve and create new species. Players may discard a card to increase a species’ Body Size or Population, or to create a new species. Players may also play cards as traits on existing species. Each species may have up to 3 traits.
When all players have finished playing their cards, the cards in the center are revealed and that much food is added to the watering hole. In player order, players may then feed their species. To feed, a player takes one food from the watering hole and places it on a species. A species that has evolved as a Carnivore cannot eat from the watering hole - it must feed by attacking other species. When all species have eaten their fill or the watering hole is empty, feeding ends.
All players score the food they ate for the round by placing it in their food bag. Any species who didn’t get anything to eat goes extinct. At the end of the game the player with the most food, traits, and population wins.

Here at North Star Games we've been making great party games for over ten years. Our games have won many awards and Wits & Wagers is about to sell its 1 Millionth copy. So why do we need Kickstarter to fund Evolution?
We're gamers here at North Star Games, and our Founder Dominic Crapuchettes has been wanting to dive into strategy games for a long time. We're all very excited to bring you our first strategy game but it poses a big risk to our company. We want to be able to fund Evolution without taking away from our successful party games. Kickstarter presents with a great opportunity to not only fund Evolution, but to gauge the interest of our fans as well. Our goal is to one day have a product line of strategy games that is as successful as our party games.
North Star Games was founded in 2003 by Dominic Crapuchettes. We make fun party games for the whole family. Our games include the award-winning hits Wits & Wagers and Say Anything.
Evolution was originally designed by Dmitry Knorre and Sergey Machin in Russia. Dominic Crapuchettes, designer of Wits & Wagers and other party games, brought Evolution to North Star Games and has redesigned it.

Risks and challenges
North Star Games has been publishing board games for over 10 years. We know what it takes to produce high quality board games. We have top notch employees and customer service.
This is our first Kickstarter campaign so it is a learning experience for us. Our goal is to get Evolution in the hands of all of our backers by the end of October. This doesn't give us much time to spare. However, we do not expect delays in production. Manufacturing or shipping issues that are out of our control may arise, but that is the risk with any game.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
