About

This is MegaMetroCity! An old-school Beat 'em up board game, designed by Boombox Board Games. It's a co-operative game for 1 to up to 4 players that will have to advance through the boards fighting Thugs while they accomplish objetives in order to complete every Stage of the game. With a bunch of Heroes the players have to fight an entire criminal organization.

In the course of these Stages the Heroes can get upgrades and resort to different types of weapons and items that will help them get rid of countless gangs of Thugs. That is, it's a brawler game!

Here you can find how to play and some of the strengths points of MegaMetroCity: Brave Heroes, cruel Thugs and Bosses, rules that emulate classic video-games, a dystopian megacity, the story of how a neighborhood was saved and much more. Just take a look to see the experience that awaits you!

In the course of the game you will control one of the fighters that have swore to take their neighborhood back from the hands of a gang known as the Bloody Chains. Each one of them is a remarkable combatant, but they all have abilities that complement each other. For example, Big T is the toughest one, but also the slowest; however, Blaze, even with less resistance, is the most lethal. Being a seven-feet-tall mass of muscle has its limitations!

Each Hero has also its own special technique that can clear the whole screen in exchange for health. They are all different and you must use them wisely to get the most out of them. Smash all the buttons at the same time!

And in case that that wasn't enough, you can also customize your Hero raising their attributes or learning stunts, dangerous combat skills like Sonic Blow or Nuclear Suplex. This is an important facet of the game where the players already have to co-ordinate themselves to achieve victory and complete the game.

In the gang of the Bloody Chains there will be at least four different types of basic Thugs to beat up including the classic Punk; the Roller girl, expelled from the roller derby league due to their extreme aggressiveness; the Chains, that keep alive the tradition of employing the weapon that gives name to the gang; and the Musclemen, mountains of muscle and cutting edge steroids.

But if you think that's not enough of a challenge for you, you will also find Leaders, Bosses and Final Bosses that won't give you an easy time finishing the game. The triplets are waiting for you and they are almost out of patience!

As you may have imagined, MegaMetroCity's mechanics take a lot of inspiration from Beat 'em up classics from the 80s and 90s.

  • The tile boards are slid to the side as the Heroes advance to emulate the scroll when you change of screen.
  •  The Thugs come in waves and they don't stop appearing until you advance. With fearsome bosses in the way!
  •  It is possible to enter establishments like gas stations, irish pubs or arcade parlors – they are full of thugs, but also filled with useful items and cash.
  •  You recover health by eating junk food
  •  You can throw oil drums or hydrants against the Thugs.
  •  And there are weapons like pipes or rifles waiting for you to use them!

MegaMetroCity can be played in two different ways

  • In one shot mode you can play any Stage individually in any difficulty level: from normal to very hard, so you can adapt the challenge to your skill. But be sure that it won't be easy in any of them!

  • In story mode, on the other hand, the Stages are played in order to follow a story-line and the difficulty level increases as you go on and the Hero gets more powerful. You will start a campaign where you will follow a story with different paths to choose.

MegaMetroCity's core box will come with a storyline ready to play story mode where the heroes have to see how their neighborhood has been taken by the merciless gang of the Bloody Chains. They can't allow violence, drugs and dirty money dominate the streets any longer, but the straw that broke the camel's back was the fact that the Bloody didn't even respect the arcade parlor. That's why they started a crussade against the gang ruled by three evil hipermusculated triplets and their many, many henchmen—they must avenge the poor arcade machines. And also save the neighborhood and all that.

MegaMetroCity is a dystopian megacity where corruption abounds, megacorporations do as they please and violent gangs run amok through the neighborhoods. And this is shown across the whole game, for example in the board tiles, that only show corruption, vandalism and destruction with grafitti, wanted posters and all kinds of destruction... And you are the only ones that can bring peace back to the neighborhood so tie your shoelaces, fasten your seatbelts and take some cash with you. This is going to be a rough ride.

Risks and challenges

Although this is our first project, not only have we the best attitude towards it, but can also rely on people that knows well the distribution chain. In addition to that, the bulk of the creative process is already over, as you can tell by the protoypes that can be seen in the reviews and movies.

That's why we are confident that the delivery will take place without problem (unless there are unforeseen circumstances).
We will have the help and support of Backer Kit for the pledge manager and QM logistics will lend us a hand during the shipping process.

Please note that the final product may experience minor changes or delays due to the fact that we strive for the best quality and some detail might need some last minute tuning.

All of our effort will be dedicated to create the best possible experience and we will devote ourselves to improve the final product.
