The Robots of Doom was originally published in the first version of the Pulp Adventure Second Edition Main Rulebook. It was thirteen pages of excitement but in hindsight, it was a very basic story-line. So, I decided to play-test the scenario and add additional content and update the adventure to current Pulp Adventure standards, layout and rules.
What we at Planet Pulp productions have come up with is going to be a glorious super saga filled with daring fights, pulp gadgets and a sinister masked villain. The six chapters should fill anywhere from 12-15 sessions with action and adventure. Plus when combined with other Pulp Adventure products, it can be the start of an entire long running campaign.
The book concerns the efforts of a group of crimefighters who battle the Sinister Dr. Scarlet who is attempting to dominate the city of Necropolis. Dr. Scarlet uses his Robots of Doom to enforce his will along with his eerie "Leech Devices" which can be used to control or kill!
Depending on the success of this campaign many stretch goals are planned including newspaper props, optional scenarios and fully fleshed out characters to help start the action immediately!
The goal of the campaign is to take Cliffhanger level characters and by the end of the book, raise them to Pulp Hero level. So, if you love pulp, take a look at the various reward levels and get into the action before Dr. Scarlet gets you!
Below are the various reward levels for support. See the text for an exact description of each reward level.
The following stretch goals are planned. Others may be added. Watch this page and check updates for further news. The higher the pledge total goes the bigger the book gets.
(Unlocked) Extra, Extra!
When this goal is unlocked, I will include all of the newspaper props used in the play-test. Seven issues of the Necropolis Sentinal will be included to help pass along the clues and information from each chapter of the book. In addition, random articles will be included and plot seeds or locations will be outlined for each.
(Unlocked) The Lights Flickered!
The play-test started out with an expanded version of the original Pulp Adventure scenario “The Lights Flickered”. Once this stretch goal is unlocked, the expanded version of this scenario will be included in the book.
(Unlocked) The Pulpinator
Once this stretch goal is unlocked, an alternate scenario will be added to the book. This scenario chronicles a scheme by Dr. Scarlet to send one of his robots back in time to prevent his enemies from gaining one of their most powerful weapons.
(Unlocked) Carbon’s Millions
Once this stretch goal is unlocked a third scenario will be included in the book. “Carbon’s Millions” concerns the greedy family of one of Dr. Scarlet’s Victims and their efforts to cash in on the death of Michael Carbon the inventor of “Planetary Glide”.
(Unlocked) Welcome to Necropolis
When this stretch goal is unlocked, a map of Necropolis and description of the dark city will be included in the book. This will expand on the information supplied in the book “Mask of the Sentinal.”
(Unlocked) When the chits hit the fan!
Once this stretch goal is unlocked, each person who receives a physical product will receive a page of chits printed on card stock. These will include robots, Aero Zombies and Dr. Scarlet himself.
Once this stretch goal is unlocked, full color maps of many of the encounters will be supplied. Printed on card stock they will be ready to use at the game table. Maps planned for inclusion are; the zeppelin, downtown necropolis and Dr. Scarlet’s submarine plus others.
($2250) More Art!
Once this stretch goal is unlocked, I will add 10% more artwork to the finished book. This will probably be in the form of scenes which could use some illustration for impact. At this point the art planned is characters and maps.
($2500) New Character Sheet
Once this goal is met, I will create a new Pulp Adventure Sheet specifically designed for use with the Revenge of the Robots of Doom module. This sheet will be included in the book and mailed to supporters who have pledged $10 or more.
($2750) Another Scenario
Once this goal is met, I will add another scenario. It is tentatively entitled "The Circus of Crime" and tells the story of how one member of the group came to join the others. This scenario could be used in the beginning of the campaign or as a break in the action later or as a stand alone scenario.
($3000) This could be worth something one day
Once this goal is met, I will select a piece of art from my originals and sign it for each backer who receives a physical product. This could be an archetype, a scene or a map.
Risks and challenges
This is my fourth Kickstarter. I foresee no problems other than the perils of real life which some time cause delays. My goal is pretty lenient, so I do not foresee any problem making this deadline.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
