Hi everyone! Just want to update you all on where we are with the Fearful Symmetries project.
Planned publication date is spring 2014, with a launch at the World Horror Convention in Portland, as well as local launches in Toronto and New York. We are on track with our publication schedule!
With respect to the anthology and slush reading, right now, our editors have reached around the 50% mark in their reading, with (obviously) another 50% of stories to be claimed and read. Approximately 20% of the stories submitted have now been rejected, and 4% of the (read) stories have been passed up to Ellen Datlow herself.
Please note that we have disabled the function that allowed authors to see their place in the submission "queue." We did this because we realized that it was extremely misleading--people would state that their submission "had not moved at all." In fact, this wasn't the case. The difficulty lay in the fact that not all of our editors were reading subs in chronological order; some were taking stories randomly. Therefore, an individual's "place" in the submission queue didn't necessarily mean what they thought it meant, given the "queue," as such, wasn't always linear. We apologize for any confusion.
We plan to respond to all submissions by August 31, 2013, which is three months after the original May 31st submissions deadline.
Thanks for being part of the Fearful Symmetries Kickstarter project and submitting to the anthology!
