About this project
Come ride the wave with us!
You can be one of the first to get your hands on the inaugural issue of Catamaran Literary Reader, a gorgeous 100+ page, full-size print magazine, in full color with stunning art and unforgettable writing. Become part of our crew simply by supporting us!
We need to raise the money to pay for printing our first edition and that is where you come in. Kickstarter allows us to seek funding from friends, fans, supporters and family alike. Just by pledging to our fund you will get us closer to our goal. If we hit our goal, we also hit bookstores… thanks to you! You can donate as little as $1, $5, $10 or more and you get perks for donations! If we don't hit our goal, you lose nothing. However, if we do make it, you get perks based on your donation and we get our first edition printed and out to waiting hands like yours. Read on to learn more details. Also, check the perk tiers on the right!
Update! New addition to the $25 reward...you will also get your name in the magazine as Shipmate!
The inaugural issue is filled and we just need to pay for printing costs! The first issue features 21 different poets and writers including pulitzer prize winners first publications. Plus we have surprising new work from award winning authors, and diverse cultural voices.
The content will be unique because it is evolving around themes rooted in California...environmentalism, personal freedom, artistic spirit, and innovation. The artists tell a visual story with beautiful images related to the themes. California artist Wayne Thiebaud will be on the cover! The image above, by local artist Amadeo Bachar, will be featured in the magazine along with 16 other images by California artists.
The first issue of our magazine has been accepted for nationwide distribution! Through referrals we found prestigious design and printing to go along with the contents. We are designing the magazine now, with careful attention to the importance of style and unique presentation. All this is very promising for the debut!
This literary arts magazine is located in Santa Cruz, CA at the new Tannery Arts Center. It's a perfect location for a new literary institution, within a community of artists working in 85 different genres, 35,000 sq feet of studio space, and 100 live/work artist lofts. View our website at:
We are the only independent literary and arts magazine in the region. There's a need, a desire, a market already out there. We just need to fill it! This inaugural issue isn't going to resemble any other literary magazine. It's sure to be a collector's item. The design will capture the vibrant spirit of the region, it will be printed on quality paper, and perfect bound...the magazine will be GORGEOUS!

Naming Opportunity. We have a high back vintage leather chair, with that Algonquin Room patina, situated prominantly in our store-front studio window. It is the symbol for all things literary...smokey libraries, private lounges in writers' leagues, the study in a lofty mansion, salons for the literati...and our leather chair will have a brass plate with your name (or your favorite author's name) engraved on it. We will send you photographs of all the notables who pass through and pose in your chair. Create a conversational photo album!Estimated delivery:
