About this project
Real MVP Kids™ is excited to share with you our first eight books in our Celebrate! Board book series. In these books, you and your child will be able to come alongside our MVP Kids™ as they go through normal day-to-day routines; learning about responsibility, manners, exploring nature, how to love others who may not look or act the same way as you and become more familiar with places that can be scary such as dentist’s and doctor’s offices.
Our MVP Kids™ represent a wide range of ethnic and cultural diversity and are the stars of our products. Our sixteen MVP Kids™, along with their parents, siblings and other family members make up twelve families. An important goal of establishing our MVP Kids™ throughout the product lines is to create familiarity and friendship for readers, a basis of trust to address serious life issues and challenges in products for maturing children. As we continue our project, the products will follow our MVP Kids™ as they grow from toddlers to adolescents.

We offer books and media that are fun, engaging and entertaining. Although there are many sources of entertainment for children today and some are quite good, most lack substance. Our approach is different. Our entertainment is with the intention of nurturing a child’s character while helping parents find answers to their questions about parenting; helping you confidently raise your children. We provide research, resources, books and media with a unique recipe of entertainment, vibrant illustrations and positive character-building stories. As our project grows, so will our MVP Kids™. They will grow up as your children grow up in different age groups of books and media that tackle age-appropriate content.
Critical to our recipe are the stars of our products, our sixteen MVP Kids™. They grow up with your children in our future products for older children. Our MVP Kids™ and their families come from diverse ethnic backgrounds, some living in the U.S. for centuries, others immigrating in recent generations from around the world. They vary physically in their sizes and shapes, in their gifts and their physical challenges. They are diverse in skin, hair and eye color, in their family’s life experiences, education and professions. Fundamental to our products is that although everyone is different, we are more alike than different and our diversity is to be celebrated not feared.
Here at MVP Kids Media™, we want you to know that you are not alone. We want you to feel supported and confident as you are preparing your child for the life ahead.
Our board books are unique. Since our MVP Kids™ represent a wide range of ethnic and cultural diversity, our hope is that every single child would be able to see themselves in our books. It is important for a child to be able to build trust and as they can relate to others in our books, our hope is they will be able to do just that. We also know it’s important for a child to become familiar with people who aren’t the same as them, but see many different types of people. This helps build compassion and familiarity with those who may not look or act the same way.
Our books aren't just full of cute illustrations and playful rhyme, they're based on research and designed to help parents mentor their children to become MVP Kids™. Each book in our Celebrate! board book series for toddlers offers a section of helpful teaching tips for parents at the back of the book. Our tips are divided into three categories: Informing Minds helps parents guide their children into a deeper understanding of the subject matter of the book; Moving Hearts helps parents and children connect emotionally to each other and to the book's theme; and Directing Hands gives practical actions, crafts and activities to help children gain hands-on experience.
You are helping us with the initial costs of publishing and printing our first eight books. All the requested funding is directed toward the production, printing and shipping of these first eight books. If we can exceed our goals, the additional funds will help us produce electronic versions of our books to help children learn to read as Sophia Day™ reads the books and each word is individually highlighted as she reads. Additional funds will also help us publish and print two or more additional board books for the holiday season plus launch the first book in each of our first two series of hardcover books for children four and up, one focused on handling anger, the other on obedience.
Our mission is to instill honorable character into young men and women through healthy mentoring relationships, preparing Real MVP Kids™ to live responsible and meaningful lives. Our vision is to produce children’s books and media that provide an opportunity for every child to grow up befriending and personally identifying with our stars, our MVP Kids™.
Our initial plan is offer board books for infants and toddlers dealing with physical, social and educational needs along with providing tips for parents related to the essence of each board book. We have already begun developing e-learning-books for each of our current board books along with the first book in two of our planned hardcover series for children four and up, with our first two topics helping children and parents deal with anger and disobedience. In the future, we plan to offer books for older elementary children, adolescents and teens including adventure and mystery books emphasizing skills to become an MVP Kid™.
We are working with several critical strategic partners including a five-time Emmy Award winner, as we plan to offer interactive games, videos and hopefully even television shows starring our MVP Kids™.
Stephanie is MVP Kids Media’s™ creative director and is the illustrator for the initial books for toddlers. She received a BA in Visual Communications Design from Virginia Tech, developing a passion for communicating through illustration and color. She served two years with Cru at The Ohio State University as a designer, leader and mentor. It was at Cru that she developed many of her skills as an artist and illustrator. While working with college-aged girls with Cru, she personally witnessed the effects of toxic home lives, stirring within her a desire to help parents and children. She is excited to illustrate our children’s books and lead our creative design teams of the future, believing that it is an amazing opportunity to impact the lives of families and children.
Megan works closely with our creative team to be the Sophia Day for our “Celebrate!” and “Day in the Life” series of board books for toddlers along with the “Help Me Understand” and “Day in the Life” series for hardcover books for children four and up. Megan received her BS in Educational Ministry with an emphasis on cross-cultural communication and child development from Moody Bible Institute. She is a linguistic professional with experience including linguistic surveyor, director of children’s ministries and office administrator. Megan and her husband, a pastor, have five children, three biological and two adopted from a Chinese special needs orphanage. As a stay-at-home mother, she spends her days homeschooling, playing dolls and trains, crafting and sewing, taxi driving and doing whatever other of the myriad of special needs that arise during a day for a mother. Participating on MVP Kids Media’s creative team gives Megan an outlet where her education, experiences, children and cultures collide.

Kickstarter's policy of not charging anyone's credit card unless the goal is met helps insulate supporters from an unsuccessful campaign.
