**UPDATE: HELP ME GET RADIO AIRPLAY!**
55 awesome music lovers, family and friends have backed my project so far, and this morning, on May 29th, my campaign reached its $5,000 target! I don't know if I've ever felt this amount of love and support before and I'm gonna tell ya: it feels AMAZING!!!
As there are still four days left of the campaign, which end June 3rd at 12:30 CST, I'm going to stretch my goal to $7,500!! ***The additional $2,500 will cover one month of worldwide radio promotion.***
Please check out my project and consider making a donation - there's no amount too small, however... the larger the donation, the louder the Facebook scream! And I promise you, I can scream!!!!
Thanks for your interest. Now, please read on to see what this project is all about.....
Hello music lover ❤️
Allow me to present my new music project to you: a 4 song EP called Can You Feel It, which is about feeling that connection that we all long for. These 4 songs all evoke COMPASSION and LOVE with their outward focus on supporting each other in times of need, which in turn helps us stay connected in our hearts and minds.
The songs have strong Joni Mitchell influences in the vivid imagery and my vocal style, as Joni Mitchell has been my biggest inspiration throughout my music career. On March 2nd of this year, I released a tribute album called 'The Quiet of Knowing', which recently got 'Editor's Pick' on the huge independent musician platform, CD Baby. The songs were never released by Joni Mitchell herself...
My vision and WHY is to UPLIFT and EMPOWER people through music. When we're outward focused, the world doesn't only grow much bigger, we also feel much better about ourselves. In New Orleans, I have visited homeless shelters and shared music on the street - my song 'Jacob' is about my meeting with a homeless man in the French Quarter, an encounter which led me to become more involved with the New Orleans homeless community. I have dear friends who are homeless and who inspire me daily with their focus on GIVING in spite of having nothing.
Singing and sharing music is an amazing gift! I love nothing more than seeing someone light up when hearing me sing or resonating with a particular song. I wish to generate that uplifted state of being for the whole world, but I can't do it alone: I need you on the team!!
And may I add that by choosing to support this campaign, you're entering into a POWERFUL team! On 'Can You Feel It', I've worked with Academy-award winning songwriter, Donald Markowitz, who co-wrote the Dirty Dancing hit, '(I've Had) The Time of My Life. Donny has helped make my songs shine in their simple beauty and, although we chose to add a string section on the song, I Miss Your Kiss (co-written with veteran songwriter Jim McCormick), and horns on 'Can You Feel It', the overall production is kept minimal so as to enhance the powerful message present in each song. All the musicians have poured their hearts and souls into this EP, which is now ready to see the light of day.
By supporting this campaign, you will be paying it forward as I take a stand for all the people of the world in need of empowerment. I know that I've been given a gift with my voice, and my passion and purpose of uplifting and empowerment of ALL through music is a burning one! It's my goal to tour with my music and to keep sharing it with New Orleans' homeless as well as people around the world who can benefit from the positive messages.
So, dear backer... are you ready to heal the world??
Let me break down the EP expenses so far and give you an understanding of how you can contribute to getting this music where it needs to be...
Recording this EP has already cost me $12,000, money I’ve mostly saved from street performing in New Orleans. The majority of the expenses have gone towards paying some of the city’s finest session musicians and recording and mixing the music at the high-end Esplanade Studios with top-engineer, Misha Kachkachishvili, turning the knobs. I’ve chosen to go above and beyond with this project, not just pouring money but also a lot of heart and time into its realization. And I'm super happy with how the music has come out!!
I'm raising funds to cover the remaining costs, which include:
*Artwork and Photography - National Geographic photographer, Claire Bangser, is on board for that.
*Duplication of CD's
*A music video of my song 'Jacob' - Claire will shoot the music video as well.
THIS IS AN ALL OR NOTHING CAMPAIGN...
...only if the full amount of $5,000 is reached by June 3rd will the project be succesful and your credit card be charged.
That being said, I will be grateful for whatever support you are able to show. Even if that is simply sharing about it on Twitter, Facebook or by email, that will be great!
Thanks a million - I can't wait to get started!!!
Risks and challenges
This is only the second time I'm releasing an album in my own name and so I've still got a lot to learn! That means that there are certain risks that I feel the need to address:
There's a risk that I may be underestimating the time that is needed to go through all the different steps of releasing this EP. However, I live in urgency and have set a rigorous time schedule, and I do believe that recently releasing another album has gotten me learning that makes me feel well equipped going into a new release.
When scheduling the music video shoot and photo session, there's a risk of the weather not being ideal and the shoot and/or session having to be pushed back. Such a delay would not be long, however, and you're likely to not feel any impact as reward delivery times are already only estimated.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
