ABOUT THIS PROJECT
The goal of this fundraising project is to finish and release the next Ted Russell Kamp record. It will be called Night Owl and it's almost finished.
The $5,000 basic goal will enable me to:
- finish the last overdubs
- mix and master the music
- create the artwork
- manufacture 1,000 CDs
I have recorded 5 albums independently since 2005. Each one has been selling more and more copies than the last, and each one has been getting more and more support from radio stations and media outlets around the world. My last record, Get Back To The Land, was #1 on the Euroamericana Chart when it came out in early 2011 and was also one of the top 100 Americana Records of the year here at home in the US.
With all of my previous records, I have been able to save up the funds on my own to put them out while I have been working and touring. I've been planning this new record, Night Owl, for some time but I keep running into the inevitable problem of funding. With the changes in the economy and the music industry itself, a lot of people are finding ways to get their music for free, making extra money to finance this new record harder and harder. I have recently been made aware of Kickstarter's successful track record and have decided it is the best way to make this record happen.
With the help of the Kickstarter program, Night Owl can be made using funds raised directly from fans - the fans who have enjoyed my music in the past and are looking forward to more music. There will be reward packages for all levels of funding, from pre-release digital versions of the record to private living room concerts for the most generous pledges.
It's important to note that this record is almost done. I have recorded all the basic tracks and most of the overdubs already. This really is the home stretch. I will record and mix the rest of the music with with my long time friend and engineer Mark Rains at his great studio in L.A. Then we can hire a professional mastering engineer so the record can sonically meet the industry standards that fans and music lovers expect. I will then work with the same photographers and art designers I have worked with on my last record and finally press up the 1,000 copies of the CD.
By the way, if we don't meet this project's goal of $5,000 we get nothing. This is how Kickstarter works. All of the money you pledge goes back to you. I get no money and we get no album.
Because of this, I want to keep the Basic Goal of $5,000 low enough to cover all of the truly necessary costs to make this album a reality.
If we raise up to $10,000 (the Dream Goal) I will use the additional money for Publicity for the record's release. I will hire radio promoters and publicists, and advertise online and in magazines to spread the word about Night Owl.
If we raise more than this (the Dream Come True Goal of $14,000), I will use that additional money to Finish a Live Record which I have had in the works for the last few years as well. This live album will consist of songs from two solo shows I did in Helsinki, Finland as well as a full band show in Dallas, Texas.
Everyone who wants to can be involved in this album's creation. I assure you that I will appreciate and value every cent. Please check out the rewards I have offered and thanks for considering donating and being a part of this project. Thanks.
