"When you think about dogs living in the wild, you think of wild dogs. These are not wild dogs, they’re dogs living in a wild situation"
— Rick Chaboudy, Suncoast Animal League
This project aims to address the homeless dog population in the United States starting in South Florida. It is our goal to combat this problem through visual media. Dogs who have suffered unfathomable abuse and are left out on the busy streets to fend for themselves. They are starving, sick, injured, and many die or are killed before they can be saved. This Kickstarter will help in part to fund a full length documentary that will explore not only the problem, but the solutions. And it won't stop there! The documentary is only the beginning, so we need your help to get this started!
Dogs are being dumped daily, and the problem is only getting worse despite opposing claims. It is a situation that needs addressing on many levels. While animal services says that stray dog calls have gone down over the past few years and it is no more of a problem than anywhere else in the United States, citizens who combat the problem on a daily basis have the facts to prove otherwise. Laws are not being enforced and for ever dog that is rescued another one, two, three dogs takes its place on the streets.
So called "dumping grounds" exist across the United States- What will it take to change this?
Where Does Your Money Go?
The funds will help cover costs for the trip to South Florida to film, equipment rentals, marketing, and promotional materials. Your money will go directly into these costs associated with creating the film. We will use the money only for necessities. I have made two potential budgets, and both estimate costs to be between $8000 and $10000- whoa. Our Kickstarter goal is $5500.
I want to be able to donate to help these homeless dogs as well, so 10% of the amount raised will be donated to Redlands Rock Pit Abandoned Dog Project if our goal is reached. This would mean over $500!

Risks and challenges
There are certainly challenges, but we are fully prepared to overcome these! I have spent many months evaluating everything that will be necessary to complete this project successfully, and I feel that there is nothing stopping us. The biggest challenges and risks will be scheduling the production of the film in terms of coordinating with my team and with all who will be involved in South Florida. I have offset this risk by accounting for two short trips instead of one longer trip to produce the film. This way, we are able to coordinate more effectively and be sure that we have captured all the necessary material by the end of it all. There is no doubt in my mind that we will be able to produce the film and put it out to the public!
Of course, money is always the challenge that towers above all, so we need your help! I acknowledge the risk with this and am prepared to do everything in my power to have this project succeed as it is very important to me and many others. The good news is- there is absolutely no risk for you reading this. If we fail (but we will not fail, I promise) then you will receive a full refund of your money guaranteed by Kickstarter policy. Failure is not an option though, and we have our sights set on creating a film that will help these homeless dogs and become a platform for change! Let's do this!
Again, feel free to reach out with any and all questions and I will be happy to talk!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
