Frequently Asked Questions
It doesn't matter how successful this game is, there will only ever be 1 print run of Civitas Nihilium. The universe will expand into different games but this first game will only be printed from this Kickstarter campaign, and nowhere else. If everything goes to plan and you pledge for a copy of a game, you will be buying a relic.
In terms of the contents. The game has over 400 components. Including over 390 unique (art and story) cards, 18 translucent 14mm dice, 60 tokens, a large (80cm x 40cm) double-sided fold-out featuring a map of Civitas Nihilium on one side and a card positioning game mat on the other, a standard-sized 16mm d10 and an 8-page instruction booklet. Every pledge that includes a base game will include the Extended Lore PDF and the professionally mastered 1-hour long soundtrack that features voice acting, synth music and cyberpunk soundscapes.
For those who wish to make a comparison...
A standard pack of 15 random (often duplicates) Magic The Gathering cards cost an average of £3 per pack at retail, add to the equation that every card of Civitas Nihilium features unique artwork, story text, and abilities and you are easily looking at a retail value of well over £80 for the cards alone. Please also bear in mind the buying power of Wizards of the Coast compared to ours.
Add the 19 dice, the 60 tokens, the PDF, the instructions, the large double-sided foldout, the purposely created one-hour long soundtrack and we believe strongly that the value is clear to see.Last updated:
The soundtrack serves as a gateway into the world. It has always been a great tool when solo playing tabletop games. Once the game mechanic becomes second nature the soundtrack will open the imagination.Last updated:
We ran a Kickstarter Live over the 2nd Weekend of the campaign, where we answered questions followed by an introduction of the mechanic and a playthrough of the game.
On the following weekend, I then sat down with the backers for another live stream where we delved deeper into the background mechanic.
You can watch all of the videos from our Kickstarter Live archives under the section "What is Civitas Nihilium" on our main Kickstarter Page.Last updated:
That's easy! From now until we are finalised on the final print we will be running weekly competitions where we will be asking the backers to submit ideas for certain aspects of the game. TTT (triple T) is the name of our Build an Upgrade Card Competition where backers are invited twice a week (every Tuesday and Thursday) to submit ideas to go alongside the upgrade's artwork I will be displaying. The winner will then have their idea fitted into the structure of the game to be featured for eternity within every copy of Civitas Nihilium.Last updated:
The box is fairly heavy, due to the 400+ cards, at around 300gsm, I am also making double sure that the packaging is excellent. As for import and export, BREXIT is going to throw up a whole load of unknowns - I am just making double sure that in spite of what happens I can get these games out to my backers without having to give anyone any nasty surprises later.Last updated:
Will there be a pledge manager after the KS where I can add the playmat or buy additional copies of the game?
We will be selling the playmat additionally but only a few weeks after the campaign has ended. Largely due to understanding stock levels and building a bulk request to our manufacturer.
As promised in our 'Ultimate Collectors Guarantee' there will not be any pledge manager - games must be purchased during our Kickstarter campaign, as part of future KS campaigns or as prizes for potential competitions in the future!Last updated:
